Not if you don't care if one day your kid is on yahoo answers asking how to cast spells, or what's a good spell for, or develops a fascination and an interest in the occult and witchcraft. I personally would not let it in my home. This is certainly guaranteed not to be a popular answer.God bless!!
I would like to ask you, do you feel that you have done a good job learning how to answer all who would ask of you why you have faith in Christ? The Bible says we should try to be ready. Do you know Americas Christian Heritage? Are you prepared with your full armor( the Word of God) for the trials that may be coming your way in life? Maybe if you have money to buy Harry Potter books and time to read them, You could buy some Christian books or read your Bible. It will be much more beneficial to you in the long run. The fact that you are asking this question lets me know that there is some conviction of the Holy Spirit and you already know that God is not pleased with Harry Potter. I'm sure Satan loves those books though.I would love to recommend some worthwhile Christian books....

Harry Potter is a character in a series of fictional books.
There are a number of religious people who try to dissuade others from reading anything but the Bible, just in case the reader comes across ideas that are at variance with what the religion professes to believe.

Harry Potter is a fictional book. The book does not tell you how to cast spells on things or people, or make potions.
I rest my case
(However, if you go around thinking you can cast spells on people, you just might have a problem)

Not to worry.... there is no hell. Enjoy Harry Potter and any other books you like. Lead a good life, be kind to others, eat well and excercise. If you are very lucky you will live a long life and then you will die. And , your children and grandchildren will have happy memories of you. But, that's the end of it. You are born, you live, and you die.

Harry Potter is a book & a line of movies with fictional characters. So no. Its just for entertainment purposes only. It doesn't represent anything demonic, the movies themselves have special effects. When you see someone cast a spell, its a special effect, thus not real.

Great Question
No, God will not send to to hell for reading the book, however what do you like about the book,; "What is going on inside of your head; your heart?" Do you have trouble reading the bible? Do you like the bible? Why not. Find a good church and a better book and give your life to Jesus.
Galatians 5:19-25 (NIV)
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; [20] idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions [21] and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. [24] Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. [25] Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

GOD.... has already spoken about Witch Craft!
(Deuteronomy 18:9-to-13) When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
(Deu 18:10) There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
(Deu 18:11) Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
(Deu 18:12) For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
(Deu 18:13) Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
Thanks, RR

Nope, Harry Potter is just a great book. Is Cinderella a sin? It has "witchcraft" so to say with the whole fairy godmother thing.

I like to think that God isn't that petty.
I wish the people who think these books are evil would choose their battles more wisely and actually look at the true evil in the world - genocide, lack of human rights, starvation and disease, war, etc..
