Does that scare anyone else?

2007-07-03 03:07:13 · 12 answers · asked by ~Heathen Princess~ 7

I mean Christians, Catholics, Mormons, Jehovahs witnesses, etc- why are these religions known for trying to cram themselves down your throat relentlessly. Then you have Eastern religion that usually practices the belief that if you want the truth you will come and find it. You don't see Taoists running around stuffing the Tao down your throat. Why is it important that everyone believe in YOUR religion when it comes to the Biblical God?? Just a question- so don't start the fire and brimstone threatening please...

Would it make since for God to condemn us to hell if we do not obey him, yet tell us that condemning is one of his most frowned upon sins. Thats hypocritical. Im sure this is not the will of God to tell us "do as I say and not as I do". Opinions?

Forgiveness is not an easy process, and if one says I forgive before he or she has worked through emotions to be able to let go of the events, freedom from thoughts about what was done is not obtained. So it is not real forgiveness.

But real forgiveness can free you from having to think about the person or people who caused the pain, even if they have been unrepentant and got away with what they did.

I would like to know what techniques others use to work through this. And in doing so, how do you avoid just numbing yourself emotionally? And how do you avoid using forgiveness as an excuse for not doing what you morally need to do, such as speaking out against the sort of abuse that was done, helping other victims, etc?

How do you explain using Biblical text the variety of apearances of people. I have never seen anyone look both black and white and brown and yeallow, both blue eyed and brown eyed. Genesis came from the middle eastern Abrahamic traditions shared by Christianity, judaism and Islam. The people that wrote the Bible were essentially Arabic in appearance and would not have had light skined, black or blue eyed people amongst their tribes at the time the scriptures were written?

OK. I was sent to Baptist churches most of my life because "they drove the bus." Even so, my dad was reared a strict Catholic, my mom was Protestant. I am married with childrena dn have been going to a Disciples of Christ, Christian Church for the last 12 yrs. My minister is THE best! He and his wife treat our family like family and have expressed us as favorites, in confidence...just felt close to us. We,too. He is resigning because he feels the church isn't gaining enough members and wants the churcch to grow. I want to quit. I would like to convert. Other churches I have tried, Protestant...have been hypocritical, rude, money mongers, etc. My sister is Catholic and I love the things that they do for family. Any input from both sides??

Some say he's great for making everything. However, he made the mistake of creating free will, the devil, hell, and flawed people. His free will mistake meant that he had to resort to a plan B after the Garden of Eden. A perfect God wouldn't need a plan B, because plan A should be perfect.

Others say he's great for sending Jesus to die for sins. That is unnecessary. He could just understand human nature, define sins as what hurts other people, and not make anyone die or suffer for punishment.

British Anthropologists Sir Arthur Keith in his book, The Antiquity of Man, described these and other like fossil man finds in detail and stated that they would have been readily accepted by scientists if it were not for the fact that these fossils, because of their locations in the strata, contradicted the accepted theory of evolution.

Examples: Calaveras, Castenedolo, and Olmo skulls.

Okay look at my last question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArSJHS2SPQhYk6b4R1GhZz3sy6IX?qid=20070702134125AAWbCjE

SOME people tell me that we've foudn the missing link. SOME tell me we haven't. OTHERS tell me there's no such thing.

THEN I started to read the links people gave me. SOMEONE mentioned LUCY so I googled LUCY and the first link was in support of LUCY being the MISSING LINK and the second and third says that LUCY proves nothing.

HOW ON EARTH am I supposed to sort through ALL THIS INFORMATION when so much of it CONTRADICTS but it all claims to be SCIENTIFICALLY ACCURATE??
