I'm an atheist because I think theism is a man-made idea.

I'm an exChristian atheist. I started learning about the huge amount of evidence for evolution and realized that either the Bible was wrong or God is very condensending to think that we couldn't handle the truth. I started to look for verification or contemporary collaborations for other miraculous events and stories. There appears to be none. Then there are the problems with the various contradictions of Jesus's geneology, birthdate etc... all in all it just doesn't add up to any sort of case, much less an iron clad one.

I'm an atheist and became one at the age of 7 when I decided religion was all just so much BS.
Since then I've refined my opinion of religion somewhat... now I think it's dangerous, mind-controlling BS based on a book of fiction that has been edited to suit the needs of those who seek to manipulate the feeble-minded.

I'm not an atheist truly. But I am an agnostic. There is no proof that God (any) exists. Organized religion becomes scary when individuals use their faith to impress their values on others. As an additional slap in the face, they use their holy text(which must be accepted by faith) as "proof" of the validity of their arguments. Kinda like saying "Im infallible, you owe me twenty dollars, and you must because I'm infallible and I say so". I've got no problem with anyone who believes in God. Just keep it in your mind and I won't mind.

I am an Atheist because I see the concept of God as an easy answer to the profound questions that require profound thought and investigation (death, creation of the universe, meaning of live, etc.).

Yes, I just don't see how people could believe in a book written over 2000 years ago. I also don't understand how they can just take peoples word on how they live their whole life. My belief is you really can't be truly happy if you believe in god because, you don't live your life for yourself but you live it for something that does nothing for you in return. There are people in 3rd world countries that would give their life for god in a heart beat and what do they get...nothing that right there proves that there is no god and if there is he has no love or respect for human life.

I agree with you, that man created gods to explain the unexplainable, and eventually it became a means of controlling the masses. I'd type more but my hands won't allow it today. We've been down this road before, you understand what I mean.

I'm an atheist.
Why? Because I have no choice. Because my old belief system fell apart like a house of cards. Because atheism is the default position (like somebody else here has stated).

I'm an atheist because there is no evidence of god(s), and the story sounds too implausible to be real. Logic and reason are my friends!
