James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Temptation comes from the evil within us, which the devil promotes and which he uses against us, to draw people away from God, primarily.

Correct. The book of James teaches us this. Remember, the devil tempts us to destroy us. But God tests us to develop our faith, make us more like Him. But for some, God tests to reveal that their heart does not truly belong to Him. Nothing is sinful about being tempted. It is when we act on that temptation that it becomes a sin. So resist a temptation immediately because delaying only makes it more difficult.

God does not tempt people.
"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:" James 1:13
The temptation come from our own lusts and desires which are products of the devil.

Very close. God does not tempt us, but He will allow us to be tempted in order for us to learn to resist temptation. Satan is not allowed to do anything to a Christian without God's permission. God allows for temptations and hardships in our lives to "toughen us up" so we can more readily resist what Satan tries to do. If you are feeling weak in a certain area, just like it says in the Lord's prayer, you can pray, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil". I found this out in a tremendous way. I was having trouble in a certain area of my life and I ran across this scripture during my daily Bible reading. I began praying that He would not allow me to be tempted in that area. It worked!!! For almost two years, I had absolutely NO opportunity to partake of that particular sin. By the time He did allow the temptation back into my life, I was stronger and more able to deal with it. Read the Book of Job to find out just what Satan is up to.

Yes, that's true. It's just like the experience of Job. All of those curses and temptations for rebuking God came from Satan. However, it was also a test for Job to see if he would still believe in Him.

Tricky question, since sins are virtues taken to excess or turned into selfish pursuits. So you COULD make an argument either way I suppose.
(Example; righteous anger at an injustice can become the sin of wrath if we lose sight of what an injustice actually is, or let the anger pass beyond an apporopriate point. See what I mean?)
But I suppose I'd say it was Satan and his minions that tempts us to invert the virtues in the first place. That's how I think of it anyways.

Remember..God will never tempt us into doing evil or into sin.
He hates sin and evil therefore, it is impossible for Him to do that.
Also God allows us to make our choices in life and this is a test as to whether we will follow His instructions or the enemies instructions.

You call it a test but it is temptation. He wants you to worship him so you can get into heaven. He is tempting you to do what he says so you get heaven. He is the same as the devil maybe even worse because he has the power to stop him and doesn't do it? Saying there is a god of course.

There is a verse that says something like God will not tempt you above what you can stand. I am sure I am miss quoting this some. If someone knows this verse I hope they quote it right.
