It was a good movie. My kids really liked it. Why would you be offended by a black God who proved Himself to a nonbeliever and saved many people? The animals were adorable, God and Evan were funny and there were a few morals taught. There's nothing offensive about it IMO.
God Bless.

I have not seen it..but i wish too...and yes I am a christian.
When Bruce Almighty came out I didnt want to see that at first but later on i gave it a chance...The basic concept of the story is''Lets see how well a mortal does with the powers of God" if you remember correctly...Bruce ( Jim Carrey) really messed things up and freaked out. Which only draws one conclusion...
Mess with fire..and ur gonna get burned. But mistakes can be forgiven.
I have a feeling this movie in a way holds similar tendencies.
from the previews we can see that Evan is ridiculed by everyone...he has much trouble with the animals..and so on...
So basically I cannot wait to see how he ends up handling everything..
which means....
If God were to give you an assignment...would you be able to handle it?

It's......(drum roll please)........
FICTION!
Christians should be able to discern this and appreciate it for what it is. I recently read a series of books that was quite good. Not only did I disagree with the portrayal of God, but God/Yahweh himself was the bad guy/main antagonist. Do I see God like that in real life? No. But did I love the books nonetheless because they were written as a piece of literature and make for a compelling read? You bet.

No, what offends me is the way that god is portrayed in the christian bible as a megalomaniacal sociopath who condones murder, genocide, animal sacrifice and human sacrifice.
I'd much prefer the movie concept any day.

Are you talking about Evan Almighty? If so you have to be kidding me....
Even though I am a non-believer, I'll still see because it is comedy movie.
I hardly think that those who are religious would find this movie offensive; if anything they might be proud of such a movie.
Are you sure you are not Maude Flanders reincarnated???

It's a movie and a comedy on top of that. How can you be offended by something that is suppose to be goofy. If it was meant to be taken seriously Mel Gibson would have directed it. lol

You dont like god to be a funny black man?
I think it's fine as they found the prehistoric origin of man, a female Neanderthal they named "Eve" (amusing, I know) in Africa. And.... if going with my assumption you are very into the bible... "Eve" being from Africa would make god a black male.
So..... why dont you like that version of god?

I was thinking of seeing it. But I understand how it might offend you. Sometimes I am offended by how Buddhist people are portrayed in movies.

What movie? Evan Almighty? No, it doesn't offend me. It only worries me that people see this as validity for thier beliefs. It wasn't a very good movie in my opinion.
Bruce Almighty was much better.

Why would you be offended by a lame movie?
It's JUST a movie. It's not like people take that stuff seriously.
