Absolutely not. A Christian who has read and believes the Bible knows that God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. There is no indication whatsoever of evolution in the Creation account. Based on the geneologies and multiple verses in the Bible, the earth and everything in it was created in 6 (24 hour) days. To assume anything else, even to the point of stating that these "days" were millions of years long, goes against all Bible teaching.

The only possible support for any type of evolution would be on the level of inter-species adaption, sometimes referred to a "micro" evolution. This would be where the same "types" of animals can crossbreed, like the lion and the tiger. There is no evidence of a cross-species evolution that would be required in the "cosmic accident" or Big Bang theory.

There are "Christians" out there that support a type of "gap theory" that states that there were great time spans in the 6 days of creation. The question then is why is it stated that the "morning and evening" were the first day? Did the morning or evening last for millions of years? And would it make Moses out to be a liar in Exodus 20:11 when he stated:

"For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. "

Moses knew the definition of days were the same as they were in the creation week.

A Christian that reads and understands the Bible cannot in good faith support the "big bang" evolution theory.

If we're born again, Bible-believe Christians, it means by definition that we are not a cosmic accident. But that does not preclude us from believing evolution.

I was raised as a fundamentalist Christian, and up until a few months ago I believed in 7 day creation as outlined in Genesis. However, I have long been bothered about how there is an overwhelming preponderance of evidence against 7-day creation and--lets be honest--how Creationists' scientific support is full of holes.

Therefore, I have jumped on board with many other believers that God has created life and He guides the process of evolution just as he guides everything else. It's no accident. I also believe that the Genesis account of Creation is unique in that it is purely symbolic. The creation stories (Adam and his forbidden fruit) are so strongly symbolic it barely matters that they are a symbol because the theological consequences are as strong as ever.

Here's the way I see it. I've been living the Christian life for many years. When I follow the Bible's teaching, it works. The more I obey God, the more peace, joy, and happiness I feel, and the better my relationships with others. The Christian life proves itself to anyone who lives it. The one area where I've found this particularly weak in any kind of proof, evidence, or support of any kind. If Creationism was as logically strong as the arguments for Intelligent Design that I've heard, I'd still be a Creationist today. The fact of the matter is that it isn't. Therefore, I'm not going to fight the evidence any longer.

I'm a born Again, Bible believing Christian.
I accept in evolution as the proved, completly stablished scientific theory that it is, still i'm far, far, far from believing that we are some kind of cosmic accident, thats nonsense

"There is nothing intrinsic to evolution that denies a Creative Intellect."- Oh JP thats like music to my ears, and i'm not even listening to you saying it, im just reading it. Thats exactly the stuff

======================

Yeah, i know JP. I was agreeing with you before, and i completly agree with you now. (Exept for the part when you said theist evolution was foolish, i completly disagree with that), i'm a biologist

i substitute into raised as a Christian yet I nonetheless settle for evolution. i'm going to describe why. God pronounced, "permit there be mild. " And He observed the sunshine substitute into reliable. i'm exceedingly confident that once the vast Bang occurred, there substitute into loads of sunshine. i don't sense the previous testomony substitute into meant to be taken actually. Adam and Eve are symbolic of society on the time. i think of that's the element in historic previous while guy began to question himself approximately his own morals. possibly human beings the place placing out to be much less nomadic than interior the previous and subsequently had to take accountability for the relationships they had with others around them. maximum Christians stay by the hot testomony. those are the classes of Jesus. they're common morals that everybody might desire to stay by.

Many Chistians believe in evolution. Only the the most moronic fringe deny reality completely.

By the way "Gods and Accident" forms a "false dichotomy" logical fallacy. Evolution is the furthest thing from random chance as it depends on natural selection. Further reality depends on Mathematical Laws ( again not random ).

Let's see.

There's virtually all the Catholic denominations (Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, etc...). 1.5 Billion Christians right there.

The Anglicans, there's another huge percent. The Methodists, not such a huge percent but still sizable.

Frankly, the literalists are such a trivial minority that... well... not to be mean or anything... but... ya'll just need to get over yourselves.

----

Primoa:

Look up Theistic Evolution.

There is nothing intrinsic to evolution that denies a Creative Intellect.

---------

Emiliano:

Granted, theistic evolution is viable within the context of faith. I think it foolish, but the two, evolution and theism, are not intrinstically incompatible or diametrically opposed. All of my biology professors were Christians, and all of them acknowledged the fact of Evolution as described by the Theory of Evolution by the natural selection model.

Evolution does not equal cosmic accident. Fundamental born agains are the minority of Christianity

In the Bible, namely the book of revelation, it explains to us how we are going to be resurected by Christ after the angels blow the seven horns. Before that will happen all men and women who are evil, and are marked with the creatures symbol(that number that I don't want to write) will die a horrible death, but the ones who are good and have faith in Christ, he will save them.
There is another thing that I feel i have to tell you. Being born again does not mean that you are actually 'born again', it means that you have found a new path in your life towards Christ. A person may have been a sinner all his life, but then one day he turned to God and said"Dear Lord, I am sorry for all of my sins". Then if the person is truely sorry, he will forgive him. So he is born again to a new life instructed by Christ. His life will be fruitfull now instead of barren.
May God be with you and bless you.

lol....not an accident. God does not make accidents. We are evolving everyday though. That is our Sole purpose ( or "soul purpose"). We are constantly creating our world...our future. What if I told you God put you here so he could experience himself....which he was unable to do without creating human beings.

Put it this way: We are physically experiencing what we already conceptually know. What do we already know? That we are made in the image and likeliness of God...therefore we are all one. Our purpose in life is re-member that. Re-member Who We Are.
