At one point in the bible, the only existing humans were Adam, Eve, Cain and Seth. Somehow Cain and Seth had children, but the bible doesnt explain with whom. This is kinda creepy. Someone explain please?

Life reveals purpose, purpose requires action, and action promotes change.

You don't have to be famous, or have alot of money to change the world. It starts with a desire to make yourself a better person. Love, charity, compassion, respect, and selflessness, are all characteristics that can promote change.

So ask yourself what contribution have I given to the world.
We can all complain about the state that our world is in....but what have we done to fix it?

What does "disapprove of" or "don't agree with" entail?

Is it a moral statement, as in they "don't agree" with it on moral grounds? If so, do most people claim that their "disapproval" is Biblically justified, or do they claim it's morally wrong because it's "against nature"?

Is it based on some negative notion of what a "homosexual lifestyle" is? If so, do most disapproving people have credible, peer reviewed research conducted by reputable individuals and/or organizations to back up their position?

And can it REALLY be said that these positions aren't intolerant or prejudiced?

Since Israel switched places with Palestine.......what advice can you give the Palestinians. I would think the Jews would know what the Palestinians are going through having been an oppressed people without a homeland themselves. They should understand better than anyone else how they feel. Any advice for them when they scatter across all the different nations of the world.

If someone seems to instinctively understand the meaning of scripture, or have the ability to tell when something or someone is "not right" according to the Bible, even when they're not really sure how or why they know these things, would this be a spiritual gift, or just the Holy Spirit guiding that person? If it's a spiritual gift, what is the name of it?

Obviously worship of a deity would not make sense for an Atheist. But I was wondering something: what about "worship" of nature, or a loved one? Is there anything wrong, according to Atheists, with having a very strong adoration of, say, a spouse, or a sunset?

If you sprinkled flower petals before the walkway of your spouse, wouldn't this almost be a form of worship? Is there anything wrong with that?

What if you sat in awe at the beauty of nature, and in amazement at evolution having great joy that you evolved to experience this?

I think that the difference between admiration and worship is a matter of degree, perhaps. If so, then what could be wrong, from the Atheist's standpoint, of having intense admiration ("worship") for someone or something?

Not meant to be a divisive question by the way! Just interesting for discussion.

Thanks.

I have heard of one, Life Purpose Driven, any good? After leaving the LDS/Mormon church, I took a "spiritual journey" and have concluded that I am a Christian and wish to join a Christian church, when I find one...but for now I want to further develop my spirituality, discover what Christianity is all about. I currently am reading the book " Christianity, everything your parents didn't teach you" Which I love, but I want something a little deeper. Also I don't even know what bible to read, I have the KJV but it is an LDS bible with Joseph Smith translations and all that, I have also seen a NIV bible, the one with Jesus' words in red? Does it matter which one? Thoughts, thank-you so much! As you can see I have no one else to talk to!

Curious. Any religious zealot please answer. Is it better to cherry pick from various parts of your holy book to fit the argument (even if the quoted part may be from something that is unrelated) or do you rather use the work as a whole.

For example, if you came to the biology board and said Goddidit. I would refute it by using the Theory of Evolution. Not just part and parcel, but all of it. I don't like to cherry pick. How about you?

Are Catholics worshipping the men and women that G-d himself created? Then worshipping their images and Idols?

I am a Christian, and I appreciate any denomination.. but this question has always been in the back of my mind.

In truth, each person possesses a capacity for thought of which even he himself is unaware. Once man begins to use this capacity, facts he has not been able to realise until that very moment begin to be uncovered for him. The deeper he goes in reflection, the more his capacity to think improves, and this is possible for everyone. One just has to realise that one needs to reflect and then to strive hard.

The purpose of this question is "think as they should" and show ways of "thinking as they should". Someone who does not think will remain totally distant from truths and lead his life in self-deception and error. As a result, he will not grasp the purpose of the creation of the world, and the reason for his existence on the earth. Yet, God has created everything with a purpose. This fact is stated in the Qur'an as follows:

We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them as a game. We did not create them except with truth but most of them do not know it. (Quran)

This fact is stated in the Bible as follows:

Genesis 5:2
He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man. "

Therefore, each person needs to ponder the purpose of creation, first as it concerns him himself, and then as it pertains to everything he sees in the universe and every event he experiences throughout his life. Someone who does not think, will understand the facts only after he dies, when he gives account before God, but then it will be too late. God says in the Qur'an that on the day of account, everybody will think and see the truth:

That day Hell is produced, that day man will remember; but how will the remembrance help him?
He will say, "Oh! If only I had prepared in advance for this life of mine!" (Quran)

Did you suppose that We created you for amusement and that you would not return to Us? (Quran)

While God has given us a chance in the life of this world to reflect and derive conclusions from our reflections, to see the truth will bring us great gain in our life in the hereafter. For this reason, God has summoned all people, through His prophets and books, to reflect on their creation and on the creation of the universe:

Have they not reflected within themselves? God did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them except with truth and for a fixed term. Yet many people reject the meeting with their Lord. (Quran)

Do you think God went "$h!t I made a mistake and I'll start again"? If so I thought God was perfect and wouldn't make mistakes? Do you think he was covering his tracks?
He is the one that made the world and then he went and wiped everybody out that he created?

Anyone could say anything at any time to question anything I believe or think and I will think and consider what they have said because I am open minded. Why do I NEVER see a christian, despite dozens of reasons seen on this website, ever answer with a reasinable 'oh I never thought about it like that' type response? Do you think this is a healthy mindset to have in life on any subject? Is it not best to think why so many people have so many things to say on your beliefs, whether right or wrong-why do you seem to not want to think?
