This is not so all Christians can take communion together.
The idea of Ecumenism is to make all the churches into one and mix our beliefs into one..
Anyone that is a Christian can take communion at our church. and we try to have unity as much as possible with other churches..

Well I don't think ecumenism has all that much to do with taking Communion together, unless your Catholic. At my church, and I fully support this, all faiths and denominations are invited to partake in Communion. There is no, if you're not a Presbyterian and not confirmed in this church you can't have communion. Everyone is welcome; the only thing my church asks is that you don't take it for the sake of doing it (or because everyone else is), if you understand what Communion is and can appreciate why we do it and why it's sacred, then all are welcome.

I've always thought that it was crap that if I went to another church (mainly Catholic churches) that I couldn't take Communion. I'm a Christian, I believe in Jesus as my Savior, and fully understand what Communion is, so I should be able to take Communion if I wish. Just because I'm not a part of your church shouldn't stop me.

I am Catholic and my church is very commited to ecumenism since Vatican II,but we feel that "open communion"harms the pursuit of real unity by giving a fsle sense of it.

We need to agree on what Communion is (really Jesus or a spiritual sign or just bread that helps us remember)and on other important elements of faith and on issues of morality and Christian living before we can have even partial Communion, which the Catholic Church does in many cases with Assyrian and some other Orthodox and the Polish National (Old Catholic) Churches.

Yes. Disciples have been at the forefront of open communion practically since our beginning in the 1800's. In the 60's Disciples leaders were major players in the U.S. ecumenical movements. We believe Christ is host of the table, and all are invited.

Ecumenism (and its midwife, modernism). Briefly, modern ecumenism is both a movement and an ecclesiological heresy. It poses a grave threat to the very "pillar and foundation of the Truth" (1 Timothy 3:15) itself—the Church. And it really does matter what the "average layman" thinks about it. I hope this will become more clear as a one's level of awareness concerning this controversy increases. But more can be said now about the necessity of self-education. It is the duty of the entire Church, the Royal Priesthood of Believers, to not only be aware of the issues, but to speak out against clear and public violations of our Tradition in order to preserve it: "...because the protector of religion is the very body of the Church, even the people themselves..."—Encyclical of the Eastern Patriarchs, 1848. In his First Sorrowful Epistle, the ever-memorable Metropolitan Philaret stated, "Can any one of us be silent if he sees that many of his brethren simultaneously are walking along a path that leads them and their flock to a disastrous precipice through their unwitting loss of Orthodoxy?" On March 16, 1997, the world-renowned Orthodox scholar and layman, Dr. Constantine Cavarnos, made the following statements during a lecture at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Atlanta, GA: "We must all rise to our responsibility to our holy Orthodox Faith, and speak out that we do not accept the Decree of the recent Synod of Balamand, and we will not accept the Decrees of any other Pseudo Synod that might be convoked in the years ahead....The time has come for all faithful Orthodox Christians to speak out and promptly put to an end this spurious form of Orthodoxy known as 'ecumenistic Orthodoxy'. It is a betrayal of the Holy Orthodox Church, a negation of its essence." (Victories of Orthodoxy, pp. 80-81, emphasis his) Statements such as these have motivated me to set up this special section of the Orthodox Christian Information Center. Some of you will doubtless be surprised and greatly disappointed to discover that this controversy exists within Holy Orthodoxy. If you are such a person, read Chapter XXX from St. Basil the Great's On the Holy Spirit, as well as Archbishop Averky's "For There Must Be Also Heresies Among You...". There has never been a "golden age" in the Church where problems did not exist. In fact Church history gives witness to tremendous controversies occurring almost continually. Let us be zealous for the Tradition of our Holy, God-bearing Fathers; but may our zeal always be balanced by love. And may God preserve the Holy Orthodox Faith!

first of all christians are not suited. purely forgiven. Going or unlikely to church has not something to do with the non secular subject of your coronary heart. considering you reside interior the flesh you will constantly sin. yet pre-contemplated sin, like pre-contemplated homicide is an entire diverse ball interest. in case you nevertheless have it set on your concepts to do it then you definately at the instant are not sorry and pleas for forgiveness are meaningless. it somewhat is like asserting forgive me yet i visit shoot somebody later. It even sounds ridiculous. The Bible says in case you have something against yet another to place the communion aside, bypass artwork it out & then come decrease back. To partake of it so gently is a sin in itself. Communion isn't a cases for a cracker & some wine in a posh accumulating. that's a time of mirrored photograph on how plenty it value the Lord which you are going to have a desire of heaven. nevertheless not bodily his flesh & blood that's sacred blessed via the which potential in the back of it. once you're consciously making options to sin then i won't be able to help yet ask your self in case you fairly have a relationship with the Lord previous purely a ritual. He did not die the variety of merciless demise in order that which you're able to might have new rituals to accomplish.
