Do you think God went "$h!t I made a mistake and I'll start again"? If so I thought God was perfect and wouldn't make mistakes? Do you think he was covering his tracks?
He is the one that made the world and then he went and wiped everybody out that he created?

I think the question is moot... it's a darn good bet that there is no god and the story is just a fantasy. If there was a way to prove either I'd lay every cent I have on it - and give long odds.

Genesis is a compilation of oral histories that predate all known written records. Some time between 10000 and 1630-1600 BCE the near and middle east was hit by a major flood. Every culture in the area had a flood legend so during the Babylonian exile (597 BCE) when the old testament was first complied had to include mention of it.

Genesis 6

5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. 6 The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. 7 So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them." 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

The people of that time were morally bankrupt, doing everything detestable they could come up with by their own free will. Only Noah and his family still worshipped the true God.

God took steps to fix matters by preserving those still faithful to Him. Only they survive by doing what God told him. Even though it had never rained and building an ark on dry land, he did it.

This gives us hope He will save true Christian followers today.

The mistakes weren't made by God but by the created ones who were created with free will. I guess they did not freely choose wisely.

It was a means of renewal that future generations might be justified by their faith in the Lord, for the world had been consumed by sin and turned away from the Lord.

God is trying to make a point with man and man insists on doing things his own way.

Hey, do you let YOUR MAN do things his own way. If he tells you "shut up and just do what I say" do you go along with it!
