Not that I have any problems with the Christian Americans participating in Iraq, I consider them brave. But I do wonder can they fight in the front line without conflicting with one of the Ten commandments

I asked this question before & recived from very interesting, and hostile answers. based on the general mood of the various answers, i'd almost have to say that atheism is the religion (sorry the PRACTICE) of attacking religious people,. but i know that's not true. i will rephrase my question. i subscribe to a much larger view of the concept of religion. I am a functionalist, if anything, and i analyze such things on the basis of their functions in society. from this point of view, religion provides a frame of reference that the individual uses to view the world and make moral decisions. i'd like to pose the question "how is atheism different than the concept of religion?" from a functionalist point of view, they are just different belief structures, athesists don't believe in nothing, they believe in facts. how is this different?

The man was supposed to live in Heaven wright? It was after the falling that God said: multiply! and that is what we are doing to this day (here we listened to the word of God! how surprising!) But before falling man wasn't supposed to have sex I guess. Why where the genitals given then? I think God new the man is going to fall all along. If he new why didn't he change it?? Why didn't he interfere so that it will not happen? Maybe this is part of a bigger plan that is still unfolding to this day??

I know the bible says that Jesus (God the son) have the same appearance of God (the father). Also the bible says they're ONE (I'm a Trinitarian). But what am I confused about is how could Jesus pray? (he's praying to himself). If Jesus and God are one, how could Jesus pray to himself? very confusing.

John the apostle was exiled to the Island of Patmos where he wrote the Bk of Revelation. Where did he end up? Did he go back to Ephesus where he came from before being exiled for His witnessing to others? Or did he die on the Island of Patmos of old age? And where was Mary, Jesus' mother when he was on Patmos, as he was told by Jesus when Jesus was on the cross to take care of her? Historically, what happened? Not interested in opinions or guesses.

I know that all the apostles, except Judas Iscariot (who hung self), and John, the beloved were martyred for their faith. But I've heard that the emperor Domitian had John boiled in a vat of oil that did not affect him (like the 3 hebrew boys in the firey furnace who were not burned by the fire). Is this historically accurate? Did God save him from the boiling oil?

And why and how did you become that religion or beleife? what makes you proud to be that religion? and why do you beleive in it?

Your thoughts please? read mine if you wish.

Im not any specific religion and i dont intend to be, i have my own beleifes but i beleive in bits and peices from a collection of religions, and my own thoughts...It all pretty much sums up that im proud and gifted to be alive. to be positive and good to others and you will receive that in return. have full faith and beleife in your self and no doubts and you can't go wrong. respect that everyone has there own thoughts and opinions and that there beleifes are no more wrong than yours...you may not agree with them but its not up to you to tell them how to think. I love being alive and i love experiencing it, and observe the life around me. I also think the way you think and your thoughts can be a very powerful thing, as everything is a state of thought. my god is everything and all that exists.

no man really would choose to go to hell.
given the right conditions, everyone would do what was needed to be right with god.
we are humans that act the way we do primarily because of biological and psycological reasons.
That is not to excuse everyone from wrongdoing, its just that we do what we do because genetics and upbring we have experienced.
the closest thing there is to actual culpablilty is to meta-cognate what i have said and use it as an excuse for your immoral actions
To say that god gave us free will is like
an obsessive boyfriend saying: Do as you wish, but if you cheat on me, I'll blow your brains out with my shotgun"

yes/no?

Christians always want to claim that they are the major religious grouping, but each reject the way every other one of them follows it.

You have a son/daughter that chooses to inform you that he/she is a murder, rapist, or pedophile.

My question to you is how you would treat your child upon receiving this information – would you continue to love and support them?

In the case of the murder, rapist, pedophile, would you turn them in?

Honest answers please.

Christian #1:
- The most outstanding mark of true Christians is that they have real love among themselves.
- Another mark of true religion is that its members have a deep respect for the Bible.
- The true religion must also honor God's name. (Matthew 6:9) Jesus made God's name, Jehovah, known to others. True Christians must do the same.
- True Christians must preach about God's Kingdom.

Christian #2:
- they may be known by the marks of Christians; namely by faith
- and when having received Jesus Christ the only savior, they avoid sin,
- follow after righteousness,
- love the true God and their neighbor,
- neither turn aside to the right or left, and crucify the flesh with the works thereof.

Do you know where the statements come from? Your thoughts on these two "definitions" of a Christian? Do you have your own you'd like to share?

Christians have always held Jews responsible for the death of Jesus, yet Jesus prophesized that Gentiles would kill him in Mark 10:33-34 "And they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles. And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him:...." And Matthew 20:19 "And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him:...." Doesn't that mean that the Christians themselves have shown Jesus to be a false prophet?

I have seen people with different religions asking questions of their reliions, asking answers with the perspective of their own religion, getting touchy when someone makes fun of their reliion or calls them blind about their divine superpower.

But till now, NO ONE asking any question has ever saked people to answer with HINDU PERSPECTIVE ONLY.

Does this mean, Hindus do not consider their religion as the best, or is it that they know that religion is certainly not a thing to be madly obsessed about?

Please comment.

You may even compae the concepts of GOD as seen by Hinduism and other religions though God and Religion may be taken to mean the same or may not be...

I was thinking about Heaven and Hell today and I came to a realization. God seems like a megalomaniac and a control freak who needs a friend and some self esteem. If you really have to create lesser beings than yourself, just to prove how perfect you are, then that is pretty pathetic and I don't think I want to associate with a guy whose only purpose for creating me was to look down on me so he can feel like a big man. And besides that, if the Republican Christians in America who claim to be the ones who are going to Heaven are in fact the ones who are going to Heaven then I really don't want to go to Heaven. Why would I want to be surrounded by people in Heaven who I despised on Earth? I think Lucifer is really a nice guy and only has a bad reputation because he would not bow down to God's communistic rule.
