I am about to turn 18,I am a Hindu and i live in India.I have really really liked the teachings of wicca and i do not think it to be bad and demeaning as 99.9 percent people usually do.I only want to focus on the positive side ONLY.I love nature and i love harmony in nature like the moonlight and waves. It is not easy for me to perform my spells but i will try as best as i can. Please tell me whether i can be a witch or not as i want to be a good witch, performing spells that will help me and others too.I am a girl and my zodiac sign is Cancer.

I am sorry to see whoever had given me a proper, informative answer had had to endure a bad rating from a lunatic perhaps. Please feel free to answer my question and do not worry about ratings because I am certainly not involved in this process.

All you need to be a Wiccan/Witch is to consider yourself one. There is no fancy transformation ritual or anything like that. If you want to be Wiccan then you are. All that matters is what you believe, not what anyone else does.

I suggest doing a lot of reading to give yourself somewhere to start. Don't take what you read as written in stone, just as viewpoints to learn from so you can create your own view. Several authors I would recommend for a wide spectrum of reading, in no particular order, are:
Scott Cunningham
D. J. Conway
Patricia Telesco
Margot Adler
Silver Ravenwolf
Raymond Buckland
Ted Andrews
Migene Gonzalez-Wippler
Sandra Kynes
Also, http://www.witchvox.com is a great site for learning about Wicca.

Don't worry about spells right now-- Wiccans embrace magic, but there is so much more to Wicca. If you want to just do magic, you don't need to become Wiccan to do it.

Read a bit more, learn a bit more. Check out Witchvox.com for lots of good information and contacts. Meditate on it. Worry about spells later.

I don't know exactly what you mean when you're talking about wanting to focus on the positive, wanting to be a good Witch, etc... it's not like the Wicked Witch of the West vs. The Wicked Witch of the North.

EDIT: Wow, I just checked out that blackfire Wiccan Study, I just browsed the history of Wicca section, and I am amazed by the amount of misinformation there, it is STAGGERING. I have been Wiccan for over 15 years and would not recommend this group to beginners. Try this site if you are interested: http://wicca.timerift.net/
it is much more informed.

I agree with MSB, and I think that http://wicca.timerift.net is the way to go.

There are SERIOUS issues with the Frosts and Silver Ravenwolf you should understand BEFORE you read their stuff.

of course you can--try going to witchvox.com to seek an instruictor near you, or head to the bookstore and pick up "The Magic Power of Witchcraft" by Gavin and Yvonne Frost--they started the wiccan religion back in the 50s and the book is excellent for beginners
