I'm no expert at this but I would say that jesus christ was the way god showed himself to humanity like a representation of god in human form.Jesus showed humanity how to act the way god wants us to but jesus himself was still not god but a part of god and he could still pray to the fully divine god.Anyways good question dude!thanks for your interest in christianity :) god bless.

I am not sure where you got the idea that God and Jesus have the same appearance. I am Lutheran and we believe in the Trinity also. When Jesus prayed he was a human being with a divine nature. Because he was human he used prayer as a way of teaching us and a way of communication with his Father in heaven. Just as we are God's creation and communicate with our father in Heaven. Jesus and God are one but they are also 2 distinct personalities. We use the apple as a way of comparison. When you hold an apple you hold one thing, but the apple has 3 distinct parts, the skin, the meat inside and inside that the core with the seeds. Or take ourselves; we have our physical form which houses our spirit and our soul. Hope this helps clear it up for you.

Let us not forget that Jesus was both God and man. When he prayed to his Father he was a man.
Thus, after the ascension he could send the Holy Spirit. Something which he could not do as God and man.
Peace and blessings!

Don't forget, the Son of God "emptied" Himself to become Jesus of Nazareth. That's why he didn't retain all the things that made him knowledgable about all things.
In Greek the word is 'gnosis'. He didn't have the knowledge that the Father still had. So in the garden at Gethsemane he prayed and relied on faith, just as you or I would have to.

my father and mother and I are three people.....my father sent me to take out the trash...I did it. He was happy...but when I took out the trash it wasn't my father in another form that did it..It was me! My mother put the trash in the bag and tied it for me..she helped....but she and I are separate people ...still working for the same goal..to get that trash out.
Same with Jehovah, Jesus, and the holy spirit. They are not equal...God has always been...the other two were created.
God sent Jesus to earth....and the angels and the holy spirit ministered to Jesus..as helpers...but each individuals.
So when Jesus prayed..He prayed as we all do to our father in the heavens.
This is just another lie of Satans....he loves it when you won't believe God or Jesus....Satan even says he doesn't exist and some of you believe that also. That's how he can mislead you..by not being on your toes to protect yourself from him.

Jesus is fully divine, and also fully human. As a full human, he was perfect, and so he prayed perfectly to the Father in heaven. It was in his human aspect that he expressed on the cross, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" Jesus experienced the full range of human feelings, so that we can relate to him.

He DIDN'T...read the "Lord's Prayer" again...it says..."OUR father who arte in heaven..."...that's because Jesus is NOT GOD. You can ask him yourself when he returns in a few years. He will tell you "the trinity" is a Pagan lie foisted onto "Christianity" by the Roman Empire. That's why "Christians" are known as "those who are mislead".
