Will a guy need to confess his sins for this?

In all seriousness, I know a guy (raised Catholic) who was forced to confess weekly for masturbating for shaking it twice in the bathroom as a youngin'. Is this crazy or what?

The sins of Sodom: arrogrant, inhospitable, coveted, idolatry and sexual sins (violent rape either with same sex or male/female). There were cultic fertility ceremonies done in the heathen temple with male prostitutes who used or substituted the body of another male and pretended that the male was a women in the sex act. This was not acceptable, and considered detestable. In 1 Cor 5:9, Paul is clarifying to the saints that he wrote and told them not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or coveteous or an idolater etc. not to even eat with one. He said he had nothing to do with judging the outsiders (non-saints) because God would judge them. The Church only deals with those in the Church. Then we are (1 Cor.6:18) to shun immorality and all sexual looseness because one commits sin against his own body. The body is the Lord's.

I don't think it will. Fundamentalism might decrease (though I don't think that'll ever be gone either) but I think religion will continue for the simple reason that people can't comprehend that there is no life after death. And then there's the emotional support that religion provides in an increasingly heartless and spiritless world which more and more people will acquire.

I'm a Witch and ask this because I wonder if we who call ourselves Witches use the term to provoke interest, to cause a reaction, to reclaim the word and transform it from its negative connotation, to educate, to initiate a good diaglogue? Other reasons? Why do you use the term?

When Moses confronted the pharaoh, he turned his cane into a snake and the magicians that worked for the pharaoh also did this.

My question is were they able to do this all the time? I heard that the Devil helped them to do it and I was wondering if this was something that was just a one time occasion or if they practiced black arts on a regular basis to get their powers.

I always thought this part of the Bible was interesting when I was a kid because when I first heard about it, I just assumed that you can only bring stuff to life if you are using power from God. This story seems to say that the Devil has that power too, although it is not as strong as God's.

What do you think?

in 1995 only to be caught doing it again in 2006? Apparently former Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal's baptism records were found December 20, 2006. And former Main Nazi Adolf Hitler was baptized December 1993 and sealed to his parents March 1994. The chances of these two 'sharing the gospel' together seems uncomfortable at best.

Is the scripture a bit fuzzy on this subject or something?

I was told by several Christians that homosexuals are "born that way", that their same sex attractions are NOT a choice and that the only "choice" involved is whether homosexuals engage in same-sex intimacy (which would imply that they can't just "get rid of their feelings" since the attractions part of their nature).

I was THEN told by several other Christians that same-sex attraction is a sin, that we're all born sinful, but we can ask God to forgive us and allow us to repent (implying that same-sex attraction IS something you can get rid of, hence a choice).

Why is there so much confusion surrounding this issue? Who's right and who's wrong? Is same-sex attraction a choice or not!?

But atually devoted more than half of his life to religion! while setting the foundations of modern math, physics, astronomy and optics.

Why was he not an atheist considering that atheists have been with us from the beginning, always in miniscule numbers ?

Epicurus, Democritus, and Lucretius were ancient atheist writers.
(Epicurus put forward the theory of "materialism": The only things that exist are bodies and the space between them. Epicurus taught that the soul is also made of material objects, and so when the body dies the soul dies with it. There is no afterlife.)

I just open to whatever it opens to (why I am using a hand held Bible and not my computer I don't know). It comes up to Ephesians 6 and I look directly at the "subtitle" Armor of God. So I read it and pray about it and I am just not sure why God led me there. But I finally fealt that I should turn to Revelation. I read the first four chapters and the one thing that continued to stick out at me was after John wrote to each church there was promises all saying that if you overcome then something will happen. I interpreted all this to mean that I need to ensure that I am protected by the Armor of God so that I can weather the storm that I am soon to face. What do you all think.

And yet ignore verses that decree no eating of shellfish (Leviticus 11:10, the same book that contains anti-gay verses, also says eating shellfish is abominable)

And ignore verses condeming a woman speaking in church (1st Corinthians 14:33-35 says women should be silent in church, be submissive to their husbands and ask questions at home)

Reminds me of the with hunts... "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" (Exodus 22:18) was the basis for murdering a multitude of presumed witches...

So what is it that makes these verses that presumably condemn homosexuality worth quoting and enforcing?

The Bible is silent on the method of Baptism of Jesus. The earliest pictoral reference to His Baptism shows John the Baptist pouring water over Jesus' head with a pitcher. The earliest written reference to Baptism is the Didache and it allows pouring and immersion. The Greek word for Baptism means to wash yet some people erroneously believe it means immersion. This is a clear case of eisegesis when people assume that Jesus was Baptized by immersion.

It seems that when an actor asks a question, hundreds and even thousands will answer it no matter how boring and mundane it is, or how many times it's already been asked. Are people really such sheep? Matt Dillon probably thinks so. Thanking you in advance, "Armenian."

Why do you espouse a doctrine of meaninglessness and then live as if there is meaning to life? You claim there is no one to judge our actions, yet you are quick to make judgements, assign blame, and express vindictiveness for evil. (such as 9/11)

You are the star witness that there is a God. For you deny the Lawgiver but still live life as if there is a law.

it wouldn't be that hard for the writers of the bible to develop Jesus story to match the prophecies, so how can that be a reason to believe Jesus. If you say that that there was witnesses who witnessed Jesus fulfilling the prophecies, where is your proof that these witnesses existed?

I'm Christian by the way just wondering how you would answer these questions.
