The sins of Sodom: arrogrant, inhospitable, coveted, idolatry and sexual sins (violent rape either with same sex or male/female). There were cultic fertility ceremonies done in the heathen temple with male prostitutes who used or substituted the body of another male and pretended that the male was a women in the sex act. This was not acceptable, and considered detestable. In 1 Cor 5:9, Paul is clarifying to the saints that he wrote and told them not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or coveteous or an idolater etc. not to even eat with one. He said he had nothing to do with judging the outsiders (non-saints) because God would judge them. The Church only deals with those in the Church. Then we are (1 Cor.6:18) to shun immorality and all sexual looseness because one commits sin against his own body. The body is the Lord's.

We were bought with a price, therefore we have to glorify God in our body. Those that are not of God can do anything they want

They indeed can do anything they want. Yet, God still cares for them regardless. And because Jesus paid a price for the smallest to the greatest sins, those who make the choice not to accept Him and His free gift of salvation will still be held accountable for their sins. We believe homosexuality is a sin because the lifestyle, NOT the person, is what God hates. It was never the intention of God for man to love man in a sexually erotic manner. Therefore, we claim it as a sin because God does. Not on our own free will. Yet regardless, anyone is free to do as they please, yet they will indeed enter into eternity and will be judge for denial and rejection of Jesus Christ.
I will also say this, I believe we are to express in a LOVING way why this is a sin because of Love. If we as christian constantly go around condeming people of their sins and judging the world for it's wrong doings, we ourselves are subject to judgement under God. So we must share to the world God in a loving way even as Jesus did.

Sex is oneness and Love is selflessness. Male and female come together and cease to be self and become one and therefore reflecting the Oneness of the Spirit of Life and therefore bring Life into this physical world. Life's nature is oneness. The Hebrew words for God is Elohim and YHVH both have male and female essences but without sexual organs. Elohim is God male and female and His messengers. God the Father impregnates His wife the Holy Breath (the Holy Spirit) with the word and the Holy Spirit carries and brings forth the son (the word). Eve was already part of Adam spiritually reflecting God but had no physical body yet. Adam was the male physically having a penis so she was already part of Adam Spiritually Adam need the physical Eve the female to experience that oneness physically. Eternity is not a segment of time but simply Un-relative Oneness with the Eternal One. There is no eternal place of torment but one day the Eternal Fire of the Truth is going to destroy all illusion along with those who decided to walk in it because it suite the lust and desire of self and they will cease to exist even in memory after judgment. Those who PRACTICE sin shall not enter into the kingdom of Heaven. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (New American Standard Bible) 9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not (B)inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor [a]effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

what about the direct quote of OT of "sin of sodom" that fits christians today more than other people you do thumb thy nose in contempt to?
Sodom in Ezekiel
Ezekiel tells us exactly what the sin of Sodom was.
Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good. (Ezekiel 16:49, 50)
Pride, fulness of bread, abundance of idleness, neglect of the poor and needy, haughty, and committed abomination.
This is why the sin of Sodom is a warning to us all. The sin of Sodom something unspeakable that only some people are prone to commit. The sin of Sodom was pride, materialism, haughtiness, and neglect of the poor and needy.
Have you ever been proud? Have you been materialistic? Have you been haughty? If you can answer yes to any of those questions - and I think all of us can - then you have committed the same iniquity as Sodom. Have you neglected the poor and the needy?....Then you have committed the sin of Sodom.

Its an abomination. This sin should not even be up for discussion or consideration, among the churches of God. The Bible is so very clear on this issue I fail to comprehend how anyone with an once of spiritual insight would even consider the possibility of this sin being acceptable.

Why do Christians think homosexuality is wrong? Simply because God said it was. Isn't that good enough for you? Do you think homosexuality is "normal"? Why?
It is just not the way things were meant to be. Pops

Because it says so in both the OT and NT many many many times. It is wrong, however, we are not to judge gay people. We should accept them, be kind and nonjudgmental. you are right, that is God's job. we don't know what is in their heart and how they worship God. We are all sinners and we could all be judged and will be by the same ruler we judge others.
