In the last 6th century Pope Gregory ordered them destroyed because they did not further the position of the church. All you have to do is read them and see why. Someone, or someones, hid them carefully so they would survive.

Because it's a "THEORY" and those are suspect?

Seriously, do you know the human suffering that could have been avoided if that tiny detail had been added in the perfect book somewhere?

I like this line of questioning Squirrel!

Science cannot explain some of the most easily observable aspects of existence such as magnetism and gravity. Why then should we accept its aTheroy on evolution which is far more complex. ( if you think science can explain gravity and magnetism, I challenge you to do a 10 minute internet search and study on the subject and you will be confronted )

They cupped each others testicles and went on and on about how the other's love was better than that of a woman while they made googley eyes at each other.

And yet, I have sat in a pew and listened to a preacher read from that section of the Bible with a straight face.

I guess he didn't know what he was reading because of all of the flowery Shakespearean-speak.

why do we need a book to teach us how to live? if god is truly omnipotent and omnipresent, can't he just speak to us whenever we have questions? according to christians he's not bound by time, so time is not an issue. some say his voice is so powerful that we cannot hear it. can't god control the volume of his voice?

It seems like, to reach the next level of understanding in this life, before we can assume to know what we really believe, we should try to come together, understand each other, and work together for a universal well being.

If you want to talk about it in depth from any religious perspective please come to my group

otherwise, leave your quick feelings here. I'd love to hear more in detail from you!

Ok you believe what you believe? Now why would you think you had the right to tell someone that their religion was stupid? A belief is something you should respect if you can't take other people expressing their belief then why express yours? Why act like a bunch of Kindergardeners saying mine is better no mine is! Why can't you answer questions respectfully or ask then respectfully? I don't care what religion you are weren't you taught respect as a child? I see all this stuff on here that is just so disrespectful and it's really rather disturbing that not many adults actually get on here.

Pastor's Donkey

The pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won. The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again, and it won again. The local paper read: PASTOR'S *** OUT FRONT. The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the pastor not to enter the donkey in another race. The next day, the local paper headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ***.

This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent. The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day: NUN HAS BEST *** IN TOWN

The bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10. The next day the paper read: NUN SELLS *** FOR $10 . This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the Plains where it could run wild.

I am just curious what Atheists believe is the reason for our existence.. As well as how our existence came about.

If you do not believe in a 'creator' of life, etc.. Explain how we are even here. Explain why we are here...

I truly am asking this seriously. I am interested in knowing what your thought process is on this.

Thanks!

If I or anyone else wants to convert then we will ask. Personally I like to learn and explain my faith not shove it down others throats. It is far easier to lead than to force.

I don't see any questions directed towards liars, murders, adulterers, idol worshipers, etc. Why do we often see people condemning homosexuality and even people saying it's one of the worst sins, but we don't see any other so-called sins condemned?

What is it about homosexuality that makes it worse than any other sin? I thought all sin was equal in the eyes of god according to your bible. So what makes being gay the target of your ire? Back it up with scripture where Jesus (in the new testament) says himself that homosexuality is a sin and/or the worst sin.

Thanks.

Is birth and death part of his plan? Does that mean that it is part of a bigger plan if someone gets killed by a criminal? Also, if someone's birth is preplanned by God, why do people think it's a sin to have babies out of wedlock? This is from Psalms 139:16.

If God really had revealed himself to mankind in the past, and if mankind recorded the events and bound them into a book -- would you expect that book to contain miracles?

In other words, I'd like to know which kind of a divine book would be more believable to you: A book that contains miracles, or a book that does not contain miracles.
