I went to a meeting this morning and was favorably impressed. What do you know about them? Especially, what do you know about their history?

i have no clue if i spelled that right, i probably didnt but oh well. I just had a question. I heard my mom complaining that catholic churches didnt teach the catholic morals anymore. Or more like wondering why they didnt. I have absolutely no clue what the "morals" are. are they like the ten comandments? i seriously have no clue.

Is this something that i would learn in my confermation (i start in a year) into the church? Or is this something that they dont teach for a reason?

(1) Christians will say that the world and everything was made by God. They'll say a sunset, the birth of a baby, and complexity of animal life are miraculous proof of God.
(2) Then when the sun's demise or earthquakes or horrible birth defects or animals killing animals are brought in, the fall and Satan are blamed (huh?). Even when it's pointed out that predatory animals have anatomy that's meant solely for predation!
(3) When someone says God blessed them or gave them a miracle, everyone says 'Amen!'. But when you point out the horrors of the world, they say 'stop whining and stop blaming God.' HUH???

What have you done to make your world a better place to live, and to love in, brothers and sisters?
Blessings upon you all.

Since noone can actually prove his existence, someone give and atheist like me an actual reason to believe. Something other than blind faith. And please dont talk to me about the power of prayer, or that its something you just feel. And yes, I went to church for many years as a youth.

This guy keeps bothering me http://answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt=AiYCpl6WDrM_nA_pohCs3nHd7BR.?show=d45a15ef47ccb3ed90fbff1fb9b09ef6aa and I can't help but think that Jesus is not the reason, but instead it's the anti angel of Jesus.

I know a lot of you love going against the word of the bible, but that doesn't make you right. Thanks to people that love themselves and the devil, homes are no longer what they used to be. Women love themselves and men love being with each other instead of the opposite.

Jesus (P.B.U.H.) had many miracles. They are mentioned in the Holy Quran, and I have already mentioned two of them: the first being his birth without a father, and the other being his speech while he was in the cradle. God says in the Holy Quran, "And will send him as a Messenger to the Children of Israel with the Message, ‘I come to you with a Sign from your Lord, which is, that I will fashion out for you a creation out of clay after the manner of a bird; then I will breathe into it a new spirit and it will become a soaring being by the command of ALLAH; and I will heal the night blind and the leprous, and I will quicken the dead by the command of ALLAH; and I will announce to you what you will eat and what you will store up in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you, if you are believers.’" (Ch 3: Vr 49).

He was able to make birds out of clay, and breathe life into them.
He was able to bring back the dead to life.
He was able to predict what people stored of food.
He was able to heal the blind, and the leprous.
He was able to do all this by God’s permission and will.

According to preacher Jack Van Impe, on may 12th of next year, the government will start implanting chips into people's right hands and foreheads. Thus buying yourself a one way ticket to hell if you take it. What are your thoughts on this? Truth or Hoax? I will remain neutral on the matter.

Lets say that a women rejoices because she finds a diamond ring that was missing, so she calls her friend's up and says lets have a get together and lets rejoice for my ring has returned, in the same way the angels rejoice when 1 man returns to the Father out of 99 people & in the same way people will rejoice the day the Son returns to take them to Heaven {the 2nd coming} Also in the same way comes this parable..........The parable of the lost Son- 11 Jesus continued, their was a man who had two son, 12- The younger Son said give me the estate, " So he divide his property between them. 13"- Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and their squandered his wealth in wild living. 14- After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be a severe famine, {im skipping} -with no verses- He returned, his father rejoiced, his brother was jelous. How many of you rejoice?

Jesus was sent to the entire world. It is known that the total number of prophets that God sent were 124,000. Five of these prophets were considered to be the best, and they were called o-loo Al-Azm. These prophets were Nooh (Noah) Ibraheem (Abraham), Mousa (Moses), Ee-saa (Jesus), and Muhammad (Peace be upon them all, and Muhammad’s progeny). Being one of the five o-loo Al-Azm prophets meant that Jesus was sent to the entire world of mankind and Jin (other beings living amongst us that can see us without us seeing them).

Yes. God sent down to Jesus the In-jeel (the gospel). The book is non-existent today, and the Bible that we have today is authored by people who came after Jesus (P.B.U.H.). The proof is simple: none of the books in the Bible is named after Jesus (the book of Luke, John, and so forth). All the books were written by people other than Jesus the prophet of God. It is a known fact amongst scholars that not a single word in the Bible was instructed to be written or written by Jesus himself during his time on earth. The Bible was written after Jesus was risen.

I've been receiving replies to my questions which mirror insight, thoughtfulness, and honest and helpful answers. Others...well, why bother with sad little men and women who wallow in cognitive shortfalls, anger, and self-loathing? As a nonbeliever, I do have true questions now not only about the major religions of the world but also atheism et al. At first, well, I was dismayed by many silly and/or useless answers. But of late I get sound replies among the locker room babble and juvenile insults. Are you finding this to be so as well?

Maybe it's because you think "If that's true, then I need to change, but theres NO WAY that can be true, look at these things that look like flaws"

I'm not being rude. I'm just curious as to why. Please do not be offended.

I work at an adventist institution, and have a couple of things I was curious about. i mean this in a respectful manner and do not wish to demean anyone's beliefs. I have noticed that there is a tendency to name buildings after major donours, even if they are still alive. I understood from the bible that you really shouldn't boast or announce your good deeds in this manner.
The other point is that there are junk food machines that have public access, especially to children. It seems disappoiting to think that the institution would choose profit over children's health. Thetr are alternative that are available. I must say again that I respect other beliefs but was simply curious. Thank you

Do Mormons understand about Christ's rising from the dead like Christians do? Easter has been a fundamentally important holiday for Christians. The reason I am asking is because I noticed that LDS celebrate Christmas.

Wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth, are teeth in the back of your mouth. They do not fit, in most cases, as I'm sure most of you are aware. Science, will say the teeth were needed for early man to chew raw meat etc, and our mouths simply got smaller, as we started eating less...difficult things. Evo-loo-shun. Now, I pitch to you this; If God created humans, in the form we currently are, why would he create imperfect people, who actually NEEDED to have a piece of their body removed at a certain point? You would think the all-knowing, all-powerful God would have noticed he added a few too many teeth for the mouth. Any explanations? Just curious.

Just for fun! What's your favorite traditional hymn and what's your favorite contemporary Christian song? My favorite traditional hymn is "Old Rugged Cross" and my favorite contemporary Christian song is "Three Wooden Crosses" by Randy Travis.

I'm sure that this question is going to get lots of "bogus" answers, but any real answers would be great!
God bless
