I can show you why I believe and the reasons I have for believing but I cant GIVE you one. The most I could ever do is open the door but I can never force you through it.
Reasons I believe in a God.
I dont want to get into the mantality that I am the best.
I want to have hope that someone is above me and others looking out for me and others in some way. This is probably selfish thinking on my part but still it gives me hope.
I like the idea that the universe has its own mind in some way. Because I for some reason want to believe that everything is a thinking thing and alive. This belief helps me to keep respectful of others.
Basicaly my beliefs in God are there to keep me safer in my respect for others. Without them I would probably be easyerly tempted to do wrong in my own actions. I dont think of God as hate in any way. I believe God to be more of a force in the universe sorta like gravity or energy but if I had to label God as a force I would label God as Love a force I believe to be part of the building blocks of our world.
Even tho I dont expect any of this to change your beliefs about God I do hope you gain some wisdom from what has been said here. To me the search for wisdom is very worthy and it seems like u are on that search.

I am not a church goer either BUT they have brought some very interesting points that in reality Science can't answer very well.
Such as....if in the beginning there was nothing, where did the dust come from? Or the gravity that bound these particles together before the big bang? What ignited the BB?
Such as.....if all life originated from the sea, where did the sea life come from, or better still, where did the spark of life come from?
We are talking about inert chemicals(whereever they came from) combining with water(another mystery chemical) and somehow magically becomes alive.
I gotta worry about watering my car, or the road I guess.
Orrr, if all life originated from the sea, why did some of it do so? And why is it SO varied? All coming from the same "fish".
Why/how did some morph into birds, lions, trees, rosebushes, bugs and the variety alone boggles the mind.(and more unknown species are being discovered in caves and in the deep waters off of Antartica.
Sciences answer "well, nothing became something" is kinda magical wouldn't you say?
Getting away from that, I do have a problem with this dying thing just to be resurrected to live on the earth again. What is the purpose of that? I knew what it was like before I died....why would I want to come back? To go to work and do it all over again? What if I was living on the dole in this life and came back ressurected. I hear it said that I will not have to work again and live off the government or head of state (GOD)?
Big diff.

I am not a religious fanatic or a follower of any Bible, the only question in my mind that lets me think there is a possibility of a God is the fact that science's starting point is the big bang, so what was around before? It is easier for me to accept some sort of being initiating it then it randomly coming together, because for a big bang to exist there had to be some sort of thing to exist before it, and anything non supernatural will always need an explanation over something supernatural where the typical response is "God was always there"...it is a good question you asked but I can not accept the big bang as a starting point and nothing before it.

It all comes down to faith. Faith is believing in something you cannot see. It takes a lot of GUTS to have faith. It's not for wussies, I can tell you that much.
Nothing will convince you until you start thinking with your heart instead of your mind all the time. Some things you just can't explain. Some things you just have to feel (deep down inside) There is something much bigger than us in this universe and I believe it is God. I can't fathom God but I trust he exists. I believe that Jesus is the son of God and everything he stood for was perfect and good. Everyone should take time to read his teachings. If we all did, there would be no war or crime or hate.
1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no MIND has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING;
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

It is impossible to ascertain the existence of the Creator (God), if one has not found out who they are!
It has been said in the past "Know Thyself", and "To Thine Own Self Be True".
These are great aphorisms.
I cannot prove that God exists, that would be very shallow on my part. Whether I have found proof, is a matter of question.
I can tell you why you have not found the answer to your question, and it is simply this, you have not come to the understanding of just who you are yet.
Good Hunting, and "May the wind be always at your back".

are you asking for a reason to believe?? Did I get that right or am I confused?
Uhmm...how about this: if it helps you to be a better person than you should be involved in religion, if it doesnt than dont. Religion is set up to help people along their spiritual journey. If it helps you, return, if it doesnt than dont. I think everyone will end up in some religious orginazation at one point in their life, some will stay with it others will not. But even if you dont stay with it, if it helped you grow at one time than it was affective in its purpose.

No one can make you believe if you don't want to. Until you experience God in your reality the way you'd expect to experience God, you will not believe....and that's okay.

Believe because it will remove the whole massive block of existential fear that's looming over all of our heads. It's the same as doing LSD but it doesn't make you drool and sit in the corner for hours.

God has already proven His existance to everyone. It is a matter of excepting the evidence that He has already provided for you and I.
