I went to a meeting this morning and was favorably impressed. What do you know about them? Especially, what do you know about their history?

Sounds like the same one. This is in St. Louis, Missouri, but may well have been founded by someone from England. They are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the death of Walter Sheldon, "first leader of the Ethical Society of St. Louis," next week. So it has to be old. But there's very little of their history in their web site.

Which one?

I have been to the one based in London which I believe is the original. It is a humanist based debating society dedicated to discussing ethical questions without the god nonsense, it attracts a very high standard of debate, Dawkins et al have spoken there.
