i have no clue if i spelled that right, i probably didnt but oh well. I just had a question. I heard my mom complaining that catholic churches didnt teach the catholic morals anymore. Or more like wondering why they didnt. I have absolutely no clue what the "morals" are. are they like the ten comandments? i seriously have no clue.
Is this something that i would learn in my confermation (i start in a year) into the church? Or is this something that they dont teach for a reason?

Well Sort of confirmation is basically your time as an adult (or pretty close to it depending on your church) to make a firm commitment to the catholic church. They will go through with you all the firm tenants of Catholicism and you will then have to decide if you want to go through Confirmation. Now most people go through it just because they know their parents want them to. I have to say I did the same thing... But when i went before the archbishop he asked if i promise to serve the catholic church for the rest of my life... in my mind and spirit i promised God that I would serve him where ever he had me go. Because at the time I knew there were alot of things that Catholic doctrine teaches that I did not believe and a few years later I ended up changing denominations.
As far as the catholic Morals go it's just a state of the world my dear. Many places many churches have stopped teaching good christian morals for a more politically correct humanistic point of view... basically meaning that what feels good is ok. Catholic morals are basically this... you go to church on sunday, you don't have sex before your married, abortion is wrong, Euthenasia is wrong... homosexuality is wrong Of course they include the ten commandments but they are not limited to the Ten..
Your best bet is to read the bible on your own time... In your case the Gospels and the epistles... because many of the things that you'll learn about in confirmation you're going to want to know if they are actually in the bible or not. Some of the things the catholics teach honestly are not in scripture. So educate your self on what Christ did teach so you will know. Don't just go through the motions... seek His Face for your self... he doesn't just want you in a church cuz that's where your parents are. He wants to have a personal relationship with you that goes beyond just doing what will make your parents happy.
God bless ya !!!

The best place to examine the Church's moral code is the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
What you have to understand is that Catholic Education, whether it's from years of a formal education at a Catholic school, or a parish CCD program - all this does is give one the basics of the Catholic Faith.
Why the basics (only)? Because, for most of us, learning the Catholic Faith is a life experience. The basics give us enough material so that we can continue to learn Catholicism on our own.
The basics teach, well, the basics. But we must take it upon ourselves to deepend our own sense and knowledge of Catholic theology.
This includes Catholic Morality. Church teachings on Faith and Morals are infallible. That is, because Faith and Morals are Absolutes. They are what they are, and that's that. God "is". His very essence is to exist. He is Absolute. Therefore, His Church, His Theology, His Morals, are also absolute because they come from an absolute God.
The Catechism of the Catholic Churchs talks about morality, the formation of conscience, covers specific moral stances on many, many, possibilities - and why the morally proper thing to do is the morally proper thing to do.

Like someone told you, Confirmation is one of the Catholic sacraments. You must be about 12 years old? There is a Catholic catechism book, on their morals and beliefs. The most famous one came out of Baltimore, one of the first Catholic cities in America. They also use to send kids to catechism classes, if they didn't go to a Catholic grade school. I'm probably a lot older than you, and I left the faith years ago. Apparently they don't teach the catechism like they use to? I've run into a few young Catholics that don't know that Sunday Mass is compulsory. It's a real serious thing too, yet they don't even know about it?

Confirmation.....
Yes it is a Holy Sacrament in the Catholic Church....
Morals are basic values of right and wrong....and as the mother of a 10 year old who attends Religious Education on a regular basis....Morals and yes the Ten Commandments are still taught to Catholic children....Yes you will learn about this as you take your Confirmation classes and you will learn so much more.....if you are in doubt now feel free to talk to the DRE (Director of Religious Education) at your parish or your priest.....God be with you.
Peace be with you.

Yes, the Catholic Church teaches morality (what is right and what is wrong).
The Catholic Church also teaches that your primary teachers are your parents (who are part of the Church) therefore you should be learning all about God, the Church and morality at home.
In addition, hopefully you are going to Religious Education classes where the Church provides teachers to help your parents teach you about God, the Church, and morality.
These classes are provided in all parishes from, at least, first grade to Confirmation.
Morality is also taught at Mass from the Bible readings and the priest's homily.
With all of these resources, you should know all you need to know at your age and maturity about God, the Church, and morality.
If you don't know everything you need to know, start asking questions.
With love in Christ.

Some CCD parish groups don't teach much content of doctrine or morals, but others do.It all depends on what texts are used.

Do it at your own Church. You are more familiar with what goes on at mass. Also, it is a chance to make new friends from your Church. :)
