Because there's no real evidence of Jesus. The only descriptions we have of him are zealous rantings written decades after he supposedly died.

People don't tend to hate Christians, except those that act heinously. And a person's religious belief is a poor predictor of their morality. People do hate Christianity because it should be hated. It, like other religions, has caused much harm in the world, with little redeeming value.

I think the main reason that people dislike, distrust, and yes even hate, Christians is because Christianity the religion has become VERY Pharisaic;all rules, no love. It becomes less about the individual trying to live a good Christian life and more about meanness and judging others.

Also, there are lots of examples of pastors, priests, parishioners failing in outrageous, and often evil ways.

Christianity used to be about your desire to be like Jesus because you had a relationship with Him. It compelled you to be a good neighbor and a friend to all, regardless whether or not their beliefs coincided With yours. Now if someone believes differently, they are judged.

And of course, call me sanctimonious, but Falwell and his ilk helped to give Christianity a bad name. Check your Bible folks. Jesus was strictly a-political. I for one am glad that there is a separation of church and state written into the constitution. It needs to be adhered to.

So to answer your questions, I believe Christians should talk less, and show more. Being good neighbors, loving others as you love yourself, giving to those in need-that is what Christ was all about.

Because Jesus Himself said that the world will hate Christians (believers and followers of Christ) because they hate Him. People are in denial of the evidence for Christ. Even the Greeks wrote historical accounts, as many were in town visiting at the time and witnessed the events of Christ's execution. Doesn't anybody watch the Discovery Channel?

People are entitled to have different theories and opinions to others. In my opinion, religion is infact based on an individuals opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, right?
I'm not a Christian, but i believe Jesus was indeed a real man. I believe that he was a teacher and had many followers because of what he taught, and a big book was written about him because he talked alot of sense- but i dont believe in all the hocus pocus 'miracle' stuff that people claim he could do. That's just my opinion though. I'm open to listening to other people's opinion though, as everyone should. Theirs no DEFINATE answer when it comes to religion. It's a personal thing, about one persons interpretation.

I am very much on the fence about religion, in any form. I believe that people resist cristianity because it is such a strict religion. Cristianity as a whole I believ, is still alive and well. The problem as I see it, is that for the "Church" to recognize you as true to whichever denomination you choose you have to completely change who you are just to fit in. The "Church" needs to understand, that in this day and age people don't fear God as they once did. We don't need to pray so that are loved ones are healed of a particular diease, all we need to do is pick up the phone and call the doctor. The point is, humanity has evolved, not to the point that we don't need faith, but to the point that we don't need the "church" to tell us when, where and how to have it.

to many people, jesus is just a fable. something to learn a good lesson from. its hard for some people to make relevance in todays society for someone that exsited such a long time ago. i personally dig the guy, but i dont particullarly like most "christians". some of the most grotesque things were done by christians

to answer the 2nd part...

imo:

its a common reaction. for instance, if someone says something that offends you, the natural thing is to retaliate, or self defend

in either instance, that person who offended you is offended again...

its a vicious cycle of strife, resentment, anger.... where people on both sides are reacting to words spoken .. in memory of previous times of being offended ...

even though the original intent on both sides is to show oneself to be a kind person.
...

with christians and the gospel message... they come up against the presuppositions of unbelievers... and the arguments against christianity they've heard and agreed with.

so its a matter of one set of standards clashing with another. and i think that as long as strangers are strangers.. its easier to dismiss what someone says.

the matter of how to get around what seems an impasse should be a matter of prayer for the christian.

Christianity is a lie, and to believe in it means you have been brainwashed into thinking your mythology is real. Its like an adult holding on the the belief of Santa or an alcoholic in denial of his drinking problem.

People don't hate you for your delusion - it's just very annoying when you try to convert us. For those of us who know your religion is a fairytale, you seem utterly ridiculous. We just want you to abandon your faith and face reality, for your own good.

Intolerance & close mindedness for the most part. Mention the "J" word and watch out - you will be accused of shoving your faith down people's throats.

Jesus stood for everything that is good. I can't understand why people would be so hateful toward Him. There is so much lack of respect for our feelings when it comes to Jesus. It is very sad indeed.

Hate might be too strong a term, but I am upset by them because they are:
1. Arrogantly sure of idiotic fantasy
2. Destroying my country
3. Unteachable
4. Intent on increasing their numbers
