I've been receiving replies to my questions which mirror insight, thoughtfulness, and honest and helpful answers. Others...well, why bother with sad little men and women who wallow in cognitive shortfalls, anger, and self-loathing? As a nonbeliever, I do have true questions now not only about the major religions of the world but also atheism et al. At first, well, I was dismayed by many silly and/or useless answers. But of late I get sound replies among the locker room babble and juvenile insults. Are you finding this to be so as well?

This is a great question!
My answer: Yes, G-GM,.. I have.
I first logged onto this site a little over a year ago and, after two weeks of reading posts filled mostly with mind-numbing drivel, I nearly chucked Y!A altogether. Eventually I ran into a few Y!Aers with active frontal lobes, and decided to stay.
However, as an agnostic with atheistic leanings, I had thought it best to limit my forays into the R/S category (there may be a few on here who would've preferred that I had kept it that way)...:-))
In retrospect I wish I had visited R/S more often.
True, R/S contains an abundance of vitriol and sarcasm (the latter of which, at times, I admit to indulging in with abandon), but there are several contributors in here whose posts I've found quite intriguing and I now look forward to reading and/or responding to them, - irrespective of any differences of opinion which have been revealed.

Yes, there are valid questions and answers that most folks just want to ask or answer with insight and honesty, You must also realize this site is an outlet for every type of person and every type of mental illness that exist. Technology has come very far within the last 25 years or so, and really has allowed "Expression." It is also the anonymity factor that drives people to be open and curious. Some abuse, others don't. "Free Speech." Like it or not, hope its here to stay. Keep asking.

That's always been the case as far as I can tell. Some people use the anonymity of this forum to vent their hatred of others who don't share their particular set of beliefs, and some just pop off with whatever silly thing that comes to mind first.
(Please understand, I don't object to joking and having fun. . .in fact, I'd like to think that I have a pretty decent sense of humor. But making a wisecrack when someone's hurting or mocking someone else's beliefs isn't appropriate, IMHO.)
But there've always been a certain percentage of people who care enough to do whatever research is necessary in order to give well thought-out answers. Those are the people that I respect and whose opinions I value -- no matter what side of the faith issue they happen to be on.
Just in case you're wondering, I'm a Christian. It's not necessarily relevant to your question, but I thought you might be taking a kind of mental survey to see what belief system people hold here.

I find that the better the question, the better the answers usually are. For example, when you (not you specifically) basically insult a group of people with your question, you invite similar answers. But when you ask a question sincerely, many people will answer in kind. Of course, you will always have to deal with the infantile types, but you can just pass by their responses.
I don't believe I have answered many, if any at all, of your questions before now. Perhaps we have different schedules.

It depends on the day. Mentioning anything about Jesus seems to bring in the intolerant haters for some reason. Just because they "don't get it" or "don't have proof" they seem to get angry with our "so called" ignorance. That is what ticks me off. Some answers however are honest and well thought out but that is the exception in my case not the rule. I appreciate those answers - it is like a breath of fresh air. I give best answer sometimes to people I don't agree with because of their decent answer to my question. I am a Christian by the way. I am glad you are getting better answers

Well, I've been on this site since last summer.
Early this year, Yahoo started taking their own Guidelines more seriously.
I think recently they got rid of a bunch of trolls, and seem better at permanently banning trolls (who used to reappear as soon as they were offed, before).
I've noticed less trollage.
But there have always been thoughtful and intelligent people on this site.
Um, do you think that burping in your Additional Details inspires intelligent, mature answers?
BTW, if you aren't familiar with the Guidelines, please read them by clicking the link, bottom of the page.
Report all violations; help Yahoo make and keep this site a place for genuine questions and intelligent and helpful responses.

yes, I did...
but, at least to me, the answer to your question is prejuduce...
prejudice is like a hardy weed, we toil to root it out only to find it back the next day... it is always "us vs them"
the mud filled ravine where they were born is nowhere near as good as the rain-soaked valley where we saw the light of day for the first time, the smoke-blackened icons we worship are incomparably better than the images they pray to,
our hymns are a thing of incomparable beauty, while their psalms are nothing more than drunken ditties...
the god we pray to is a being of incomparable perfection, while their god is a vindictive dwarf... our causes are just and noble, their causes are nothing but crazed ravings...
I symphatize with you, for most of the questions are overtly or covertly hateful...
what we forget is, that every person on this earth carries identical mitochondrial DNA, which means we are all brothers and sisters... we all had the same mother...
your questions have merit...

I have always tried to answers truthfully to the best of my knowledge. Sometimes stupid questions deserve stupid answers, but I have tried to answer true to what I believe. Of course, not everybody agrees, but that is life. I see that quite a lot of people do the same.

Yes I have noticed that. Maybe the people that were so rude gave up. Or, maybe they realised that a lot of good people were leaving because they didnt want to deal with the "little men".

As a non-believer, I'm glad you have true questions. And I'm very sad that some of the christians...and I'm leaving that uncapitalized.....have been very immature.
Keep asking your questions and ignore the people who are not sincere and loving
