Why do people here assume that I've only read "biased" pro-evolution material? I can say that I've certainly heard the anti-evolution side (I've even listened to substantial portions of Kent Hovind debates). I spent a large part of college hanging out with fundamentalist Christians, going to Bible study with them, and engaging them in debates. This is how I came across the intelligent design-inspired concepts of irreducible complexity, etc. So don't assume I haven't put any thought into this.

Ultimately, I've found the arguments against evolution to be remarkably weak, and at times simply disingenuous.

What about you folks? How many of you have actually bothered to learn evolutionary theory?

I've heard several people say that evolution claims we evolved from apes. This is not true, and I think it's important to clear this up.

Evolution claims that apes and humans have a common ancestor. In other words, apes and humans both evolved from an animal that was different from them both.

Do people understand this point?

Why don't you believe in evolution when there is an overwhelming amount of evidence in support of this theory? What do you lose by taking evolutionary theory for granted? If you insist on believing in a Creator, can't you still believe that the Creator orchestrated this process somehow?

I'm not interested in just reading the Bible in a year or anything like that. I want to study it so that I actually learn from it. Any suggestions?

If the evil in the world is intended by god he is not good. If it violates his intentions he is not almighty. God can't be both almighty and good. There are many objections to this, but none that holds since god is ultimately responsible for the existence of evil. Besides, if only god can create he must have created evil. If somebody else (the devil) created evil, how can one know that god, and not Satan created the universe?
