I don't object to theistic religion at all. I admire a few.

What I don't like is people who insist that their way is the only way. Or those who say silly things about atheists as if their opinion about our lives has more validity than our own.

Unfortunately, Christianity in particular is represented by far too many of those types on this forum.

The two above her's are more accurate.
You might notice that most of the atheist postings are directed at the fundamentalists more than anything.
It is the truth that the atheists are getting more reactive but when there is a huge effort by right wing religious fundamentalists to create a Dominionist nation their reactivity is quite understandable.

That it promotes untruth is the reason why i am here. It must be stopped before it becomes dangerous.

It is that it is not true is the reason I am an atheist.

Religious intolerance certainly bothers me just as any sort of dogmatic thinking bothers me. However, if everyone became atheists overnight, I think people would just find a new way to be intolerant of one another.

It's not the lies that worry me. It's all the hatred and intolerance, combined with a degree of ignorance and hypocrisy. Both have fuelled wars and atrocities.

Atheism. You know it makes sense.

don't be silly. an atheist's main objections are that not everyone agrees with them, they can't control the hearts and spirits of others, and they never got to eat cookies after school.

well there is that, but it also promotes intolerance, ignorance, and violence. those are not values that a civilized culture should encourage
