God is not apathetic - but it is harder to determine whether he is "kind" or "cruel" as we attribute certain actions to both of those words. If God delivers judgement because of sin, is He then cruel?

Our focus should be on trusting God even when we don't understand his ways. we also have to remember that God looks at things from an eternal perspective, and that his ways are higher than our ways. God is just, righteous, holy, loving, merciful, and gracious. how his attributes work together can be a mystery to us

I have to say that you are wrong in your assumption, Jesus cares, He died for all. I think you mistake apathy for free choice. Would I gladly follow a God who forced me to worship Him, I don't think I would. It is the choice that God gives us through free will that for me makes Him so great. Are there consequences for our sinfulness and disobedience, yes. But God is kind to me, I may not have everything I want, but I do have everything I need.

I have had some bad things happen to me, but I understand that everything will be fine in the end.

I find it strange that people feel that He is apathetic, He isn't apathetic towards me in the slightest, but people who do not want God in their lives, why would they get upset if He doesn't force Himself upon them.

I definitely disagree with you. If there is a god it would be all: kind, cruel and apathetic. It is believed god is all and everything is from god.

Dear Artificial Superficial,

First i know that many people will have different thoughts on this topic- obviously depending on what their perception of God is.

As God reveals himself in the Bible- he is a God that is concerned about our souls. He is a God who gives Himself (sacrifices Himself), and He is a God who loves us passionately. There are many who may reject that love, and they may be apathetic towards God- but in terms of how God shows Himself- He is a God who loves us and wants us to know Him personally.

Many people will reject God because they don't want to be told how they should live their lives. While John 3:16 tells us that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son to us-- a couple of vereses down it also reveals how men reject God's love because their deeds were evil (men do not want to be told what to do and how to live their lives).

Nevertheless this does not change what God has revealed about Himself. He is a God who loves people and pursues them passionately...

Kindly,

Nickster

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. " - John

"How oft I would have gathered you together under my wing, as a hen does her chicks, but you refused!" - God

Doesn't sound apathetic to me. One should think more about his own apathy toward these statements, perhaps, rather than supposing God apathetic.

Wrong! He sent his son to die for the sins of the world and to give us a path to salvation. If he was apathetic he wouldn't even bothered with the one path and all would take the road to destruction! God loves the world but it rejects him and only those that believe will be saved.

Well, if advocating the KILLING of 2/3s of ALL HUMANITY is not a tad cruel, OK. ... Being one on *Biblical Death Row,* I tend to disagree. ... And how "Xians" are OK with this, baffles me!

But Woody has a third take:
“If it turns out that there is a God, I don't think that he's evil. But the worst that you can say about him is that basically he's an underachiever.” – Woody Allen

Let me give you a little inside information about God. God likes to watch. He's a prankster. Think about it. He gives man instincts. He gives you this extraordinary gift, and then what does He do, I swear for His own amusement, his own private, cosmic gag reel, He sets the rules in opposition. It's the goof of all time. Look but don't touch. Touch, but don't taste. Taste, don't swallow. Ahaha. And while you're jumpin' from one foot to the next, what is he doing? He's laughin' His sick, ******' *** off! He's a tight-***! He's a SADIST! He's an absentee landlord! Worship that? NEVER!

I loved that movie.

I am a Christian:
God does care and is nice and good.
But he does have an angry side. Remember he flooded the whole world killing everyone but Noah and his family.
