God did not create us in his/her image - it is very arrogant and delusional to think so.

Tthe difference between male and female are very simple in genetic terms. I think, science will develop within a few decade that anyone will be able to change his/her sex. Have you seen the movie ''the Matrix ' ?

Genders and sexualities are process of life, God has created for continution of life. Once, mankind and science will reach in such a stage, they will not need gender and sexuality.

So, God created us in his image, we are waiting to reach his ultimate image ! You got the answer !

Hey Martin,

When the Bible says that God created us in his image- it is a reference to how mankind has qualities inherent in them which resemble God's moral character.

There are things that we can observe as human beings (that whether you are a religious person or not) you know its not right. And God has created us with a capacity to know good and evil- but has also given us a freedom to make right moral choices.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Silver has the correct answer on this one. Being created in the image of God does not point to genders or sexuality because it does not point to physicality at all. God is spirit, not flesh and bones. We are spiritual beings, and in that sense, are created in the likeness of God Himself.

As to the distinction between man and woman being in God's image, the Bible indicates that mankind (humankind, not male kind) is created in the image of God. It is an unnatural conclusion to arrive at to say that males are created in the image of God but females aren't.

First, that thinking would lead to a gender-based "image of God" whereas God is spirit only. If you want to argue that Eve was taken from Adam's rib, you're only arguing about the material God used to create her. And on that same subject we know that Adam came directly from dust. Material is not relevant here. God's image in mankind is.
God's reference to Himself as male only indicates his authority to us since He placed the role of human authority on the man's shoulders. Secondly, study the topic of "being created in the image of God" in the Bible, and you'll see that it refers to "mankind", not males only.

Greywolf - "God created mankind in HIS own image; in the image of God created He him." You're the one with the misunderstanding.

Yes, The alpha and omega, He/she/all that is! But sex is not a consideration of gender or sex. God is spirit energy. He creates, he does not procreate as humans in the third dimension. But since (God is all that,) that may seem like a paradox is that he is in us as well, so we can say he is physical too. Like light is of God but we make it so by the energy of electricity through wires.

In the bible it does not say that God created humans in his own image... it specifically states that he created Man in his own image. I get really sick and tired when people try to misinterpret the holy bible to justify their own agendas - it is for this reason that I lost my faith. It is people's interpretation (or misinterpretation in most cases) of religion that have led to the problems that we face in the world today.

It may be easy to come to this conclusion, but Genesis clearly states that Adam was made in God's image, and that Eve was fashioned out of Adam.
God is male, hence the pronoun "He" used consistently to describe him.

having the “image” of God means that we were made to resemble God. adam did not resemble God in the sense of God’s having flesh and blood.. scripture says that “God is a spirit” ..and therefore exists without a body. however, adam’s body did mirror the life of God, as it was created in perfect health and was not subject to death. then.. sin came.

I don't believe in god, but if I did, I would think that god created all of us equally. As for the other responses, the Bible is a piece of Cr@p and I would never quote it.
