If I strongly believe that every baby is born as a boy, and only after three years a tiny little piece of half of the babies will fall off, and they become girls; there is not one biologist on this planet who will respect my beliefs.

Those beliefs will be laughed at, ridiculed and mocked. Those beliefs are harmless...

Well, unless 200 million others start to believe the same thing, write a book about it, claim it's God's work, the beliefs will become valid in our laws and every newborn baby girl will be looked at as evil. Then, all of a sudden it's a religious belief that needs to be respected.

Yes, I know this is a ridiculous example. Let's do another one. Just as ridiculous.

If I were to believe that a God pushes a soul into a clumb of cells, and with that calls that same clumb of cells 'life', and I would get 200 million people to believe the same nonsense, is that a valid basis to create a law that forbids stem-cell research?

I was wondering... why don't all Muslims follow the jehad theology? is there a verse in the qur'an that tells muslims not to? I'm asking this from a purely want to know standpoint because i never got why the other sects of the religion didn't do it... thanx

You see I think that the bigger truths that will save mankind other than the fact that Jesus died for our sins, but what I believe is that God gave us half-truths because they are better than no truth. I have a dream that I could be transported somewhere where I could interact with a continuum concept computer (That is a sphere of spheres) that would feed me and give me tools. The biggest reason is that in spite of the 12 steps very few people have gotten rid of all of their addictions and that coffee and cigarettes torment me. I would like to be able to plant a tree of life (or recovery) and work on it myself. I know there are people who could help me with this but I have no way of contacting them I hope that some force can help me with this. there is a lightning storm who knows I might be struck on my way home.

Why is it that every time there is a shooting in Iraq or some where they always say " A Muslim leader" or " A Muslim man" or something along the lines of the person being a Muslim... While when there are crimes here in USA they don't say well " by a Christian Leader" or "A Christian man" or "A Jewish man" or whatever.. why do they only put Religion labels on Muslims and no other religion? Why does media get to make big bucks by persecuting the Muslims?

I know that black smoke tells everyone that a new Pope has not yet been chosen, and that the white smoke shows the selection of a new Pope. Does anyone know where and when this tradition started? Thanks :)

i was memorizing 1 corinthians 13 for school, and you know how it is when you memorize. you think more about making sure you remember everything, rather than think about what is really said. In verse 9 and 10 it says "for we know partially and we prophecy partially, but when perfect comes that partial shall pass away."

All of us know partially. Nobody is perfect and everyone guesses and hypothesizes on how the universe was created, and how to explain all these different things that have been around us forever, but we do not know it and we never will fully.
We prophecy partially, and we will keep on thinking up ideas to explain everything until perfect comes. Then alll the partial will pass away and we will know the truth.
I just thought it was cool to share that i could relate it to something like this. Feel free to give negative or positive comments

My friend recently broke up with her boyfriend of two years, because they are supposedly "unequally yoked". She worships on Saturday and he worships on Sunday. They were planning to get married and, as far as I know, things were going great between them. If they are compatible on other points, including their love for Christ, are they truly unequally yoked?

I am against all forms of abortion but this one tops the cake:

Heard a story coming out of Massachusettes about a 16 year old girl who went to her nurse in school because she was pregnant.

As it turns out, this nurse suggested an abortion clinic......and did not notify the parents of the girl first!!! What is our world coming to???? This is ridiculous.

You need a signed note by the parent to give out a freakin' aspirin.....but nothing for suggestng a medical procedure????

Should parental consent for minors be put into law?

Think carefully about what you will be reading.
This is a new one for me...

Mary had a little Lamb, His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went, The Lamb was sure to go.

He followed her to school each day, T'wasn't even in the rule.
It made the children laugh and play, To have a Lamb at school.

And then the rules all changed one day, Illegal it became; To bring the Lamb of God to school, Or even speak His Name!

Every day got worse and worse, And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh, We heard gun shots and tears.

What must we do to stop the crime, That's in our schools today? Let's let the Lamb come back to school,

And teach our kids to pray!

What happens when these people die:

1) infant child who was never exposed to Christianity

2) Person who grew up in another culture and never had a chance to hear about Jesus - perhaps a tribe member in a jungle of south america or on a remote uncharted island.

3) A Christian, who, at the time of their death, is going through a crisis of faith and is uncertain, despite a lifetime of faithfulness.

Any thoughts on these questions? What would be the fate of their souls? Heaven? Hell? Purgatory? Some other fate?

This does not apply to those who admit the only way to derive morals from the Bible is to cherry-pick them. For those who say the Bible is 100% literal truth, everything in the fictional work happened, and not a word should be altered. You ask me how, as an atheist, I can have morals without a God or a holy book. I will focus on the bible for this question, as it is most relevant to the U.S. You are eager to quote the 10 commandments as proof of this, yet when I suggest the following:

How to sell your daughter -- and what to do if she fails to please her new master (Exodus 21: 7-8)

A child who hits or curses his parents must be executed. (Exodus 21: 15,17)

The fathers shall eat the sons ... and the sons shall eat their fathers." (Ezekiel 5:10)

can some patients who are clinically dead (not breathing/no heartbeat) and are revived can tell with uncanny accuracy what the people around them did (these don't all happen at hospitals), who said what, who was there and what they were wearing, and chronological detail the order of events to save their lives? I mean if it were drugs that caused this, how come the details are so accurate? Whether it's drugs or not, since in these cases they are "aware" after death, does that prove awareness survives physical death? If the mind is shutting down and trying to make this physical death an "enjoyable" experience, I still don't see how they can remember such detail when they are unconscience and dead.....even doctors are amazed by some of these stories...just some thoughts. Interested in all answers. Thanks.
