You can't look at it like that. You can only convert to buddhism if you truly believe in the buddhist ways. It's not like pros and cons.

First thing first, we do not 'convert' to Buddha, however we do believe that everyone of us have the Buddha nature, so we do can become Buddha.
By following the Buddha Teaching, we are not treated Buddha as a 'creator or god' with blind faith, instead we treat him as a teacher, who can guide us on this spiritual path. We study the teaching, analyze, contemplate, ask question when we in doubts, even challenge the teaching when it seem not logical.
Benefit? tonnes of that. we would be a more kind person due to the teaching of loving kindness and compassion, we would be more mindful of our body, speech and mind that not create harm to ourselves and others, we would be more patient, etc, of course, we must do the work we need to do to get rid of our own afflicted emotion and delusion, and it take a great deal of effort. The ultimate benefit will be able to obtain full enlightenment and never be reborn to this cyclic existence again.
If you really have interest in Buddhism, I would suggest you to read and find out more about Buddhism, may be to attend the Buddhism class for beginner, try out you self whether this path is suitable for you or not.
hope it help.

During the Buddha's time, people of all walks of life, high and low and of all religions come to come to seek advice and to learn, endless were put to him,and one of them is your question and if you ask him,he will likely tell you to practice deligently in own religion and take up Buddhism, you will excel in your religion when you go into Buddhism.Do you need to go to school? In school,do you have classmates of other religions beside your own? So people of all religion need to go to school,to learn to be a better person,it is the same as Buddhism, regardless of religions,if they do research they will do better in their own religion,it is actually very sad that Buddhism is being misunderstood as a religion because Buddha Dharma or Law is Universal Law, is an Education, it surpasses time and space, it is eating when you are hungry and sleeping when you are tired.may wisdom be with you.

I hear that Buddhism can give its followers lots of strength. Tina Turner became a Buddhist and that's where she found the strength to ditch Ike.

There is no benefit, and that is a big benefit, you and yourself will be responsible for your action, good or evil. ..... ie. you would not have any fictional character to take your blame for you. You will not "receive" any imaginary grant from some papa up in the sky.
----
For constant reader.... Buddhism does not accept the concept of fate. It believes you reap what you sow .... meaning your fate is created by you and it is not predestinated.

Buddhism accepts "fate" and enshrines passivity. Makes for nice, quiet, calm people, but I don't think that's really good. So my answer is there are no benefits.

A severely disillusioned mind; mixed with more and more inability to discern TRUTH.
oh, you asked: "BENEFIT?"..........
ummmm, NONE!
Just speaking GOD Almighty's TRUTH is all; pardon me if I came across as rude; I just know that Buddhism is not TRUTH.
