First) Most abortions are related to the woman's age. Accordingly to researchers, the number of teenage abortions has increased. Each year, one million American teenagers become pregnant, and 85% of these pregnancies are unintended. About 35% of pregnant teenagers choose to have an abortion rather than raise a child.

Second) The concept of when life begins is essentially religious. If one accepts that life begins at the instant of conception, it means that a soul enters into the fertilized egg at this moment, and when an abortion is performed, a life is ended. Now we must consider who has the right to end the life of another human being.

Third) The baby MEDICALLY becomes alive at around 25-26 weeks, when it can survive without the mother...

Fourth) What about anencephalic baby? (Born without a Brain, but still has a brain stem.) --Imagine you have wanted a baby for ALL of your adulthood, and have tried for YEARS without success, FINALLY, you get pregnant. You find out the baby is anencephalic, would you rather have the baby, only to watch it die minutes to hours after birth, or have an abortion and try again? The baby cannot feel pain, cannot see, can barely breathe (And sometimes can't) by itself- It has nothing about it. You can literally hold it up to a light and see the light on the other side, through the baby's pink little head... Seriously, you are going to deny a woman her right not to feel as much pain?

Fifth) Freedom is a right- Freedom is having the choice to make decisions and actions that change you and those around you. You take away a persons freedom when you take away the right to their body.

Don't think I'm Pro-Abortion -- I'm Pro-Choice. Abortion should usually only be used when needed, and it's not very good if it's used as birth control, but still, it isn't your life to run, and it's not your choice to make.

I assume the medical decision you are referring to is the decision to kill an unborn baby. In that case, there is nothing odd about protecting the unborn in both cases.

I think it would be odd for someone like me to demand the government protect the potential I have to live a couple more decades, but not to protect the century a zygot or fetus has the potential to live.

I think people should demand that the government encourage development of nonlethal pregnancy termination technology so women can make the decision to end a pregnancy without destroying a life. I guess I'm the flip side of those who say "I'm personally opposed to abortion, but it is a woman's right." I'm personally opposed to telling a woman she can't terminate a pregnancy, but destroying a life in the process should not be acceptable.

I don't personally like that there are a lot of abortions, but I have two quick thoughts on the matter.

A) I'm a guy, so it really isn't my business except if I was the father. Even then, it's not my decision. But I would be entitled to an interest and opinion.

B) There are a TON of hypocrites on this issue. The one's fighting to save every unborn child will be the first to support carpet bombing in the Middle East where civilians get killed. Or pretty much ignoring what is going on in many parts of Africa.

She certainly has a right to make her own medical decisions in my opinion, however untill we agree as to the nature and definition of the one cell zygote as a living being with a soul and spirit we will never come to terms on the abortion argument.

I hate abortion so much...it grieves me really bad inside.. I must say what I believe as a fellow human being and what my convictions are before the living God.

You were once a one cell zygote, sugar. Parents have the responsibility for their child's welfare until age 18 legally. After that, they're free to make all the bad choices they want.

I used to work in a pediatric medical clinic (up to age 18). While some teenageers are mature enough to handle control of their own medical care, some are not. In Canada, there is not set age limit, it goes on a case by case basis.

To say nothing of retarded citizens who they send to the electric chair... :(

And what about the daily death that happens in Africa to babies just out of the womb. Ok, so maybe they don't ignore it but they don't talk about it 1/10th as much as they do this abortion thing.

Not responsible enough to make her own decisions, but responsible enough to have a child.

Riiigght, that makes sense. Anti-choice people confuse me...

Not only that, but most "pro-life" people "choose" their morality. They are anti-abortion, yet they are pro-war and pro-death penalty. That does not make sense.
