God is not responsible for the suffering of children but humans do, they are the ones that cause wars both ethnic and religious bringing untold hardship on their people because of their selfish interest, God gave man a perfect start but men decided to choose independence from him, and brought calamity upon themselves and turn and blame God, it's too bad.

I ask myself that all the time. I don't like the answer that I found, but it is the only one that gives me some sense of peace. This will be long, but it is worth the read. Here goes-
I read this book called The Worthing Chronicles. In the book the main character, Jason, has parnormal powers (esp, moving things with his mind, etc). His planet is dying and he is sent off to colonize a new world.
He begins the the colony and then puts himself in suspened animation at the bottom of the ocean. Every 10 or 20 years he comes out of it to check on how his colony is doing. Most of the book is about individual stories concerning the growing population of the colony. The colony, of course, becomes a city and then more cities grow, then nations, etc. etc.
He goes in and out of suspended animation, stretching the time out more each time. Finally he picks a wife and has some kids. He leaves her to go back to his ship. He puts himself under and decides not to put a time limit. When the society has enough technology they will stumble upon him.
Thousands of years pass and Jason's descendents become more and more powerful. They have become the guardians of their universe. They monitor all the planets and their human inhabitants. They do not allow pain, grief, anger or fear to happen.
When they finally find him they think they have found God. He wakes up, finds out what they have done and is furious. He tells them they have made all the people into mindless sheep. With no sorrow, there cannot be joy. With no sacrifice, there can be no bravery? With no conflict, how can people achieve the best that is within them? In essence the guardians have taken away free will, becasue there are no consequences for the people's actions.
As an illustration he tells them the story of one of the characters in the book that Jason had know in the early colony days. The man (we will call him Mark) is a good husband, good father and good friend. His wife is having an affair with his best friend and this Mark knows it. While on an exploring expedition with the best friend, wife and their children, 2 of the 3 children are killed. The last child tumbles off a cliff and Mark makes a desperate leap for him, also going over the cliff. In a heart stopping moment the child leaps for Mark's outstreached hands, their finger tips brush, but Mark is not able to catch the boy. Despite the tears and pleas of his wife and best friend for him to hang on until they can get a rope down, he decides to fall and die with his last child. But, before he does, he tells them he has known about their affair. But having loved both of them too much he chose to remain quiet and not risk losing either. He tells them he forgives them of everything and asks the friend to take care of his wife and follows his child to his death.
Jason then asks if they would have loved and admired Mark as much if his life had been controlled by the guardians. Would he have ever been able to show his true worth if not faced with adversity?
So, it is all about free will. With free will, things must be allowed to happen, not controlled. Adversity brings out the best in many people.
How many people treasure the memory of Martin Luther King, Princess Dianna, Anne Frank, Rosa Parks, Ghandi or even the guy who said, "Let's roll" on United 93 on 911? For that matter how many people love the guy in "Life is Beautiful", Jack in "Titanic", or the dog in "Old Yeller"?
I think God had to decide would he protect his children to the point of not allowing them to live a life or not?
Just my thoughts. I could be wrong.

Unfortunately God does not take us out of an evil world. Sin is why we live in a world of choice to do good or to do evil. Unfortunately sometimes good people find themselve in harms way. God has the ability to take someone thru the hurt and lost of a child, especially due to a crime if the person will allow Jesus too.

Life is about loss and gain..we gain to lose and lose to gain. Even the Millionaires of this world suffer loss.
Who is to say that the losses are at the hand of GOD, God said be fruitful and multiply, there is no contradiction, period.
Death is never at the hand of GOD only life...the enemy is responsible for the rest.
We love to blame GOD for loss, when there is another force working opposite to all his blessings.

Did you ever think that the deaths of these children are due to the actions of people???
God makes the children. He will make more. Blaming God for what people do, is advertised ignorance.

God does care about us. Children die because there are perverts out there and child molestors and kidnappers and murderers and Its not Gods fault for that either. what the hell is wrong with you people always trying to blame God? Its not Gods fault for the love of God. and God does care about us and he knows life has its consequences. and it saddens me too to hear on the news children are found dead or missing. its not Gods fault. its not.

What do you do to stop this suffering that you're so upset about. I'll bet nothing edit; You blame God for the big picture and He could blame you for the small picture.

I should really post this somewhere once and for all....
God has laws to follow. Logic says that God, who is omnipotent and omnibenevolent wants to and can help everyone, BUT logic says that if He sin't helping everyone, then something is stopping Him. Since He's Almighty, it can't be some force, so it has to be something amaterial: permission.
1) God gave this world to us. It may be His EARTH, but human society is not His. He needs the ownership of a human life to act in our world, as spirits need bodies to work on earth. when you get saved, your body become the temple of the Holy Spirit
2) God has to have the faith of humans, human consent and human righteousness in order to be allowed to work in our world. God doesn't do anything illegally. this concept is demonstrated in Genesis when Abraham is able to 'delay' God's judgement and Lot, who is righteous, is in the city of Soddom and Gomorrah. This is also demonstrated in the NT when Jesus could not work miracles because the people had no faith.
3) God doesn't stifle our free will. if He did, we'd be sinned against, and God can't sin. if we choose not to obey Him, then we're on our own.
if we want miracles to happen we have to let them.

Well really, it is us who are letting these children die of thirst and hunger....but God doesn't stop us...because we have free will....the children that have illnesses are malnourished....God may not heal them...because even if they are only 5 years old....God may say, that it's their time to come back home to Him now. God has a good reason why He lets all this stuff happen....sometimes it takes a child's life just to show us that God is real. But God has reasons....that we don't know of. That's why we have faith. I don't know why God lets them suffer a horrible death...instead of just dieing quickly...but again....God has a reason for it. God isn't dumb....He knows what He is doing....we, humans, don't know what we are doing. We are killing all the little children....and we know it too....but we are selfish and self-centered....thats whywe must pray to God to fix our ways and make our ways like His.....
