What would it take for you to believe there is no God?

Seriously, I want to get some kind of idea.

If you say "nothing" would make you change your mind, then you are not open to rational discussion or thought.

But if you can imagine something, what would it be?

nobody knows specifically who wrote this book... transcribed by hand (errors included) from one language to the next and back again (thats more errors)

written at a time when the average person thought 40 was old age, infectious disease was caused by divine punishment not microorganisms, mental illness was a demon living inside someone.. the list goes on and on

yet somehow this book is the answer to everything... ask a question about christianity and you will recieve quote after quote of mistake ridden text thrown at you

case in point is evolution... to every reputable scientist i.e. ones not paid for by christian foundations and submit to peer reviewed journals, evolution is as obviously true as gravity is
however the bible disagree... why.... because it was written 2000 years before anyone had any idea of evolution... thats fine for 2000 years ago but not now....

isnt it time to accept these issues and either update the bible or bin it?

I have three children. One is a toddler, one is 8 and one is 13.

I want to begin bible study with them. What is the best childrens bible I can get.

Are there any good sites out there, to give me tips? Do they have fun activities that we can do together?

Any other advice would be great.

Thanks!

All through the bible it refers to GOD and LORD... these are titles, not names! In the "lords prayer" it says "Hallowed be thy Name." Many people believe Gods name was taken out because it was sacred, others believe it was taken out by translators.

The question is, What do you think gods name is? and what evidence do you have to back this up?

IF not, why do you follow a religion that was essentially created by Paul after a (supposed) similar incidence.

i do not think that any holy text or scripture mentions pies. why not?
so many religions claim to be peaceful, but they are still propergated by the sword and hob-nailed boot of oppression. if there had been a prophet or messiah who had ordered their followers to lay down the sword and take up the pie wouldn't religious conflict be less awful and more fun.
are not the long gone comedic heros of the silent movies the real saints and martyrs for showing us a gentler way to solve our differences.
the only problem is i bet you someone would have developed a key lime sabot tank buster.

I asked this because:-

A - there is no god/devine being, there is no proof - don't say the bible! If there was a god he would not let all this **** happening in our world today and in the past. - and don't say Free will!
B - Religion segregate people eg Northern Ireland - Catholic and Protestant. Israel and Palestine - muslim and jews.
C - Religion hold back technological advances ie - dark ages.
D - Religion seems to breed evil acts (look at B)
E - Terrorist are using religion to justify their acts, this pisses me off. Blowing up people on planes and trains.

I know you all think I am a atheist and hate all religion but I don't. I am just one of those people who want to stand up and ask the question most people want to ask. I don't believe in blind faith ie you just believe in god because someone told you to or you are born in a family where you have been raised to believe in a faith. If I was to believe in something then I like to believe in the good of humanity.

(Prompted by another question from jajadejade)
My answer:
if Jesus were here I would crawl up in His lap & let Him hold me. I would ask Him to tell me stories as He is the greatest Storyteller. He would laugh with me & cry with me & I would be in complete awe that the Savior of the world would sit with me & love on me like I have never been loved before. I would thank Him for everything He has done in my life & listen to Him tell me the things He has done for me that I didnt even know about. I would go with Him wherever He asked me to go, and praise Him that I just got to be in His presence. All the questions I could ever think to ask Him, when I see His face, I wont even care about those questions anymore, but He'll answer them anyway. I would PRAISE Him with singing & dancing & trembling. And He would join me in praise to the Father. Then there I will be, with a full heart next to my Jesus, singing & dancing & praising my Abba, my Daddy. O this Lord of mine, how I love Him!
