I believe the gods are individual, conscious beings. While some of them may be closely related to certain parts of nature (spirits of rivers, for example), I think they are more than just personifications of nature/natural features.

God is who you make him to be, that's in ANY religion. In MY Pagan beliefs I believe in equality. I believe in a Goddess (men can NOT have children nor do they have the patience to raise them) and a God (the protector of this family and the balance). they work together and speak to each other in reason and compromise, like everyone should. I plant trees for all the air we breath, plant flowers for serenity, pray to Thank my Goddess and God for the life I have been given, but I don't pray to them for help. Only I can better myself or a situation I am in. I take responsibility for my actions and not throw my blame on someone else. I'm not allowed to teach my children what I believe they are to go out and explore and chose their own religions. But I do teach them to care for the Earth because that's where were live and like a house you have to keep it well kept so you can live happily. It's all about balance and equality. You take you give back. If it harms none, do as you will. Oh, and sorry Christians we don't have orgies or sacrifice our children...

In my beliefs, God is an entity that not one person can wholy comprehend. We don't have the capacity to. Some look at God as a personification of nature. To a small degree that's true, but again, not the entirety. Those of us who use different names are also calling on God. The best way I can think of to describe my beliefs is God is like a diamond. As we cannot comprehend the entirety of God, we see the facets that we recognize as God. All these different names we use are different facets of the entity that is God.

I am a panentheist; the Divine is the spirit that is within all things, and we are all individual cells of the Divine, even as we are our own beings. Nature, to me, is simply the easiest way for me to get in touch with the Divine beyond my own spark.

My deities are conscious, separate beings with their own wants, needs, and agendas.

Deities are metaphors in my view. So it's just a personification.
