When the devil is solely a Christian invention and doesn't belong to any other religion or belief system?

Even Satanists don't believe in the same devil that the Christians do.

People often claim that humans are made in the "image of God."

Does this refer to our physical bodies? Does it mean that God has a body which, like ours, closely resembles that of a chimpanzee?

Or does it refer to our mental qualities? Do humans have amazing God-like mental abilities such as telepathy, telekinesis, or maybe even the ability to distiguish whether an action is right or wrong simply by thinking logically about it?

I'm one of those people who is pretty sure there is a God and Jesus is the savior but not completely sure.

I used to be an atheist but found that atheism is way more closeminded than its adherants profess it to be (no matter how fervently they say otherwise or how much they compliment themselves or how much they insult you to "prove it"...just like I used to be). I also found that fundamentalist theism is basically impossible for me because I have not been brainwashed into fear and ignorance (so far as I know). I also do not want to be angry and deluded like they are.

I am just barely a Christian because I am just barely there on my quest for truth. Does that count as being "saved" or not at all? If I have to believe scripture completely and unwaveringly then I'm not sure I can. All I have is a gut suspicion and the hard data about the universe tells me absolutely nothing about its validity. Anything can be explained away after all.

Mind you, the question is not 'if' but 'why' Jesus became an atheist. Which means I present the conversion of Jesus as a fact. So, I won't accept answers which deny this fact.

I do this, because presenting questions as 'facts' seems to be quite normal here on Yahoo!Answers. Only the last hour I've read how Darwin recanted on his deathbed, how Hitler was never a Christian, how Stalin killed people in the name of atheism and how all Muslims deep down have terrorist tendencies according to research.

I truly hope Yahoo doesn't advertize with how many facts can be found on Yahoo!Answers.

Anyway, why did Jesus become an atheist?

Not that it matters, but Stalin and Hitler were Christians, and I don't know what religion pol pot was, but lets assume these three genocidal maniacs were atheists, just for the sake of arguement,
now, we see something like this in yahoo answers every day,
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArF92SM633PTYtyCSfn81x_d7BR.?qid=20070310153505AAdBiM8

When the asker asks it, is it supposed to be guilt by association? Does this mean that all atheists are guilty because there was an atheist genocidal maniac?

This is of course absurd. This is like blameing Christians for the Crusades. The modern Christian had nothing ot do with the Crusades.

Why should Atheists apologize for something they didn't do, or Christians for that matter?

Could it be, people are just, atheist haters? Why

What is this about in a nutshell? Is there sacrificial stuff like witchcraft of old, or what is it? Are they for all good or do they punish people by putting spells on them?

I've been caught up in the Liberal-Conservative war in the Politics section. I spent alot of time there arguing with Conservatives. The result was that when YA started handing out the Top Contribuer awards they gave me only one. That was for politics. I kind of want one for R&S also. I'm an atheist, which I'm sure will influence your answer.

Did the asker imply that Christianity = Religion?

I'm not sure but I think the asker is intelligent enough to know that there are other religions, includeing Shintoism.

You know, at some point, its not the asker's intelligence that I think needs to be questioned, I think it might be the answeror.

I am a FreeThinker Agnostic and Humanist. I am not a Christian so how much do you hate me? You can be totally honest. Please don't insult me either by saying that you don't hate me when it's pretty obvious that some of you do. So do you see me as a hellbound heathen sinner? Come on you can hit me with your best shot? I know some of you do see me that way. So why not admit already?

Each murdered tens of millions of his own people. Each was Atheist and outlawed religion. Hitler too was an Atheist who used religion to try to motivate people to do his will. He murdered Christians who opposed him.

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Life's a piece of ****
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death'sa joke it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you

Why would God divide people by language so they may not understand one another's speech when a universal language is a prerequisite of peace and civilization. It seems like that is something we should strive for. Sounds like a blessing - not a crime. And who was the us? - The elohim???

Gen 11:7 - Let us go down, and confound their language, that they may not understand each others speech.

Please do not take offense to my questions - I am just trying to learn.

Let's see:
1. The primary symbol is an instrument used to torture a man to death.
2. There's the idea that God hated everyone so much that He'd only be appeased by having his own son killed -- infanticide.
3. And the primary ritual is to mimic cannibalism.

Gee, now there's a recipe for a healthy mind! No wonder so much hate and violence comes from it. People think it's permissible to do what their gods do. Sick. Twisted. Insulting to any benevolent concept of deity.
