If the very nature of one's public service job regularly presents situations of spiritual conflict, shouldn't the person just find another job, instead of inconveniencing the public?

Example 1 - Muslim cabbies at an airport refusing to transport people who may have just returned home with a bottle of imported liquor.

Example 2 - Pharmacists with personal issues regarding contraceptives?

Do you think there are three broad categories of atheists and which category would you say you belong to?

Methodological Naturalist: the long standing convention in science of the scientific method, which makes the methodological assumption that observable effects in nature are best explainable only by similarly natural causes, and with irrelevance to the assumption of the existence or non-existence of supernatural elements, and so considers supernatural explanations for such events to be outside of science.

Nietzschean: No ultimate, absolute or eternal truth of any kind. What is described as Truth is a product of power effects centering on the human body.

Buddhistic: An ultimate organizing principle exists but it is not supernatural nor is it personally concerned either with Man nor with men.

Have I missed a category. What do you think?

I ask this sincerely because i,ve gatherd that some choose to be atheist because they personaly have no proof that a God exsists. but that others may have more of a societal issue concerning religions.i.e,religous wars, terrorism and so on.so i was wondering if anyone refrains from celebrating religous holidays or perhaps changed them.

I've tried asking the following question twice, it simply will not post. Anyway....

Why is it wrong to follow the path that feels right for you?

In response to another's question, two of us answered that it is best to follow the path that feels right for you. When last I looked, we were the only respondents to receive a thumbs-down.

So I'm curious as to why this would be wrong. Why would anyone WANT to follow a path that didn't bring them an inner peace, regardless of what that path might be? Can someone explain this to me please?

I have a bible that is completely falling apart, to the point where I doubt even the poor would want to use it. Is there a way to retire it respectfully?
Only sincere answers, please.

I've noticed it I mention something about my chosen religion and name the religion, I get at least one thumbs down, usually more. However if I mention something about my religion but don't name my chosen religion, I don't get a thumbs down.
What gives? Is it my answer or my religion they are booing.

BTW, I'm Mormon. Yes, yes, I know, I've been decieved, you disagree with my beliefs, blah blah blah. But often times, unless I mention I'm Mormon, people will agree with my answer, but the moment I mention I'm Mormon - thumbs down.

In Christianity, we believe that Jesus fulfilled the law of Moses, ending some of them, like the animal sacrifices. If Jews don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah, do they still follow all of the Mosaic law? I never hear of anybody doing animal sacrifices, or stoning people for committing sins. What has become of all these old traditions?? Did something happen to change them or are they all still being followed?
