I've tried asking the following question twice, it simply will not post. Anyway....

Why is it wrong to follow the path that feels right for you?

In response to another's question, two of us answered that it is best to follow the path that feels right for you. When last I looked, we were the only respondents to receive a thumbs-down.

So I'm curious as to why this would be wrong. Why would anyone WANT to follow a path that didn't bring them an inner peace, regardless of what that path might be? Can someone explain this to me please?

I'm not whining about a thumbs-down, I receive them constantly. I am genuinely interested as to why following what feels right should be considered wrong.

Ultimately it is the path that feels right and works.
Too many times I have seen people try and force something, it doesn't work, and they say I knew that.Hmm.
I've done it myself.
Most of the time my path is the least trodden one but I feel that is where I am suppose to go.
Works for me.

Ya' got me! The only thing I can think of is that may the person who thumbs downed you (not me) was thinking of that phrase, Eat, Drink and be merry today, for tomorrow we die. Meaning that you shouldn't think about your actions, just do what feels good now, and if there are any consequences (which there always are) then deal with them when they come up. I think that's reading a little into your answer, but maybe that's what they were thinking.
I tend to agree with you. Everyone is on a different path, and I seriously doubt anyone would stay on a path they didn't like or that was detrimental to them, for very long without at least trying to get off of that path. I don't mean that in a bashing way. It's just that I was raised Methodist, and I learned a LOT from it. It gave me a good solid foundation upon which to learn and grow. In time, I left that church and found another that I can't imagine leaving, but I'll never forget my Methodist years. My path just changed is all.

While I didn't see the question, I can give you an idea of why they would do that. If you wanted to go to Walt Disney World, and decided to follow the path that 'feels right' for you, how much would you want to bet that you would get there? Paths lead to different places. It's a good idea to follow the recommended course if you really want to get to the 'happiest place on earth'.

You can't do anything else. Each person is a unique individual. We all follow our own personal path to God. There is nothing wrong with that. God is Love. Follow what feels right to you and you will follow the path of love to God. It is our birthright, we all know the way, and the path. Just get off your butt and go.

Well it gets tricky. IF you truly believe in a Creator ( God ) then that will have a great effect on what feels right. But if you do not subscribe to a Creator then there is no wrong or right. Without a higher moral authority how can anyone say anything man does is wrong? IF it is here, how can it be wrong?

John Wayne Gacy and Adolph Hitler were following the paths that "felt right" to them. Does that make them the "right" path to follow, too?
I thought you told me you give everybody "thumbs up"?

Well, my beloved RQ, I happen to agree with you, so I can't explain it other than from an outsider point of view.
If it goes against christianity (which states that you believe in their god or go to hell) then they are going to disagree with you.. people abuse that thumbs down thing all the time. I really wish Yahoo would just do something differently.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Are they really that afraid to follow that path on their own and accept the consequences that going the wrong way might entail?

Those who would consider it wrong are disheartened. They do not trust their own feelings, having been taught that therein lies darkness, treachery. They cannot see beyond their morbid beliefs in an angry godhead. Do not allow their bitterness to sway you. You know what is right for you; you know the difference between what is right, and what just "feels good", or is the most expedient path. Trust your intuition...intuition means, "God in man", or "God in me". Listen to your innermost, deepest heart.

I'm answering your question and not all the other stuff. I know I read in the bible,,,,,,,,,, I think in the book of Psalms,,,,,,,,,,,"there is a way that seems right to man , but in the end , leads to death." Please read for yourself and study. Don't always believe what you hear from others as they are just a man or woman such as yourself.
