Someone said that humans being mammals was a theory and depended on belief in evolution - how can that be?

Look up the term and tell me how humans are not mammals

no...because I am one.

For everyone who doesn't want to look it up, or for who believes otherwise, heres the definition.

n. Any of various warm-blooded vertebrate animals of the class Mammalia, including humans, characterized by a covering of hair on the skin and, in the female, milk-producing mammary glands for nourishing the young.

Being classified as a mammal has nothing to do with whether you believe in evolution or not. It's about the physical characteristic of the species, not the spiritual characteristics. Besides the classification was in place long before Darwin and his theory.

Ummm....but we are mammals.
First of all, we are warm blooded, a characteristic of mammals. Secondly, we have mammary glands which allow us to produce milk. You don't see reptiles suckling their young.
Thirdly, we have hair, also a characteristic associated with mammals.
The evidence that we are mammals is there. I mean, we're certainly not reptilian.

Mammals give birth to live young - so I would say yes we are mammals - but I'm a Christian so - hmmm - don't have all the answers here. Blessings.

We are mammals in the sense that we are made up of the dust of the earth as are all other living creatures on the face of this earth. Animals have immortal spirits in them like we do. However, they were created by God and we were begotten by God. We are the literal offspring of Deity, His spirit children. We came to earth to receive physical bodies of flesh and bones and to gain experience by adversity to become more like our Heavenly Father who is not a different species than us. For we have the seeds of godhood in us and are actually gods in embryo stage. Our main purpose is to become like our Father for Jesus said: "Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect." Eventually for the faithful that perfection will come and we will live with our Heavenly Father for eternity.

Well, personally I don't lactate.

That's about the best I can do, I'm afraid.

Maybe if I shave off all my head and body hair I will have negated another mammalian trait? Then all I have to do is lay an egg and my work will be complete!

lol i suppose he can be whatever he wants in his head. if he wants to be a 20ft cat, then let him call himself that.

a rose by any other name will still smell as sweet.

regardless to what he calls himself hes still under the definition of mammal.
