To repent before God is, on the negative side, to repent not only of sins and wrongdoings, but also to repent of the world and its corruption that usurp and corrupt people whom God made for himself, and to repent of our God-forsaking life in the past. on the positive side, to repent is to turn to God in every way and in everything for fulfilling His purpose in making mankind.

How to Repent in 7 Easy Lessons

1. Recognize that you have sinned. Look at the Ten Commandments for starters.
2. Realize that these sins have stunted your spiritual growth and lessened your ability for joy.
3. Be sorry for being such a jerk.
4. Tell God you're sorry....and MEAN IT!
5. Ask for forgiveness.
6. Be courteous. Say, "Thank you, Lord." for His forgiveness (the which you got some 2,000 years ago)
7. Try not to s***w up anymore, but when you do, go back to (1) and start over.

Repentance means that you are sorry for your behavior. If you act badly that is what you do if it is a friend or relative you say I'm sorry and you mean you will try not to do such behavior again . Your reference to the Bible indicates your concern is behavior toward God, Who is your father and wants you to feel you can be sorry and love Him just as He loves you. He would like such a great relationship with you that you would choose to live with Him forever. He's already forgiven you before you say "I'm sorry".He did that by dying on the cross for all the things you will ever be sorry for,and If you thank Him for doing that , He has an engraved invitation already in his hand for you.
Thats the Gospel Hope to see you later .

To repent is to "turn from sin". Turning from sin is generally thought to be a good thing even if you are a non-Christian. Sin is generally a thing that is not what you want to be doing in this world. They are generally harmful to others as well as to our FATHER in Heaven. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Edit... Betty, Asking forgiveness is NOT ENOUGH! Repenting is literally "turning away from sins". This can be found in a concordance at any Bible Store or online if you choose to do so. Please check it out. Do not just trust me. I am sure of it because I have already done so. Have a great weekend young lady!

Repentance means to ask for forgiveness and turn away from what you were doing. Repenting helps you to have a better relationship with God. Example: If you were a kid and you did something that your parents didn't want you to do and you never ask for forgiveness and you keep on doing it, it will cause a strain on your relationship with them.

"Repent" literally means "re-think". In other words, we need to change our way of thinking. We need a different attitude, a different outlook. If you suddenly see the other person's point of view, and realize that you hurt him, when you were previously only seeing your own point of view, that is re-thinking. If you suddenly realize that some material thing you've been obsessed with buying is stupid and trival, and no longer want it, that is re-thinking. Any repentance must begin with changing the way we think. Simply changing our outer behavior, while continuing to hold the same thoughts, doesn't really change anything. The change has to come from a radical change of outlook. When that happens, the change in behavior will follow naturally.

The term repent means to turn 180 degrees from the way you were going.
It means to turn.
This is generally done in the mind.
If done there, you start to practice a different way of life.

I had a way of viewing Jesus.
Then I changed from that way of viewing Him to an entirely different way of seeing Him. I repented.
From a non believer to a believer.

Rependence, biblically defined, is a "change of mind".. a turning away from one's understanding of "ideal" and submitting rather to God's "ideal"

Further, repentance, is often followed by but is not synonomous with Godly sorrow,

2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
