How would you resolve this conflict in perception between Buddhism and Christianity:

I told the head of a campus Christian fellowship that Buddhism was not against Christ. There are ways to teach correctly where Buddhists can receive Jesus, instead of mutual rejection. Where he got stuck was the concept of Nirvana as "nothingness" that the purpose of Buddhism was to extinguish the soul. I tried to explain this means complete selflessness, as Christianity teaches to empty our cup that we may be filled. We must depart from false material attachment or false desires of the "flesh" before we can live by spiritual values. So the concept is not against Christianity.

How would you explain this where it makes sense to a Christian?

The human brain is well-known for it's propensity toward hallucinations, pattern-seeking, wishful thinking and misinterpretation. How often have you been wrong or misinterpreted something? How can anyone say that your personal experience is solid evidence?

I think its a letter of love. It does have a lot of parts where it does show Gods power. But for the most part I think God is just showing us love through it??

My daughter is taking her first communion this April. I want to throw her a small dinner afterwards with some friends. I am serving Italian food (lasagna, spagetti and meatballs, salad, etc.,.) I am unsure of who to invite. Do they all have to be Catholic? Do I give out favors? I know that this is a extremely important day for my daughter ( I am also taking my Confirmation this year, I am taking RCIA classes.) Any suggestions or things that are normally done at a first communtion besides the obvious? And besides the dress and veil, should I get her the gloves and other things? And should she come home and change from her dress into something else (or if she wants should I let her wear her dress all day)

Which is worse? Me and my friends joking about Star Wars this morning, or Islam is evil baiting just to increase the hostility between the religious people?

I am going out on a limb here, and saying that my day spend joking about Star Wars is going to be stress free.

Love me or hate me, you clicked on this question. Why?

Does me asking about Darth Vadar mock your beliefs? Does your asking about Your God mock the beliefs of other peoples Gods?

Then how is what I am doing any different? A christian asks about Satan, does this mock the beliefs of Wicca?

I've made my point, notice its only going to be two religious persons and maybe 95% of all atheists who come here regularly who will get my point.

Go on call me the fool in his heart knows no god thats all you people have anymore.

Me and my wookies are taking over cause you hate too much.

Don't be a hater. Jesus himself said forgive. Obey your master and I'll obey mine, my master of course, is yoda.

Is the concept of "once saved, always saved" contradicted by the words of God's prophet Ezekiel:

And if the virtuous man turns from the path of virtue to do evil, the same kind of abominable things that the wicked man does, can he do this and still live? None of his virtuous deeds shall be remembered, because he has broken faith and committed sin; because of this, he shall die. - Ez 18: 24

And Jack said unto the terrorists, "I am the way and the light. Begone from my sight, heathens, lest I cap thee." And the terrorists did not be gone from His Sight, and He poured out His Wrath upon them with His Handgun. Yea, Jack did verily lay waste to the terrorists, and it was good.

I know "Christian" is referring to protestants and lutherans, but in reality Catholics ARE Christians. Why do people keep trying to seperate the two? They are much more similar than they are different.

You'd think the most important thing known to man would be as simple as possible so as not to be mistaken.

Instead, it is hidden well in thousands thick pages of a book called a Bible.

Please don't say, God only wants those who are trying? What about vegetable humans unable to read all that, or those really pressed for time, trying to find out how to get saved, oh, skip it, last few hours of life?

Could take days to read the whole thing!

Sometimes I struggle with this nagging feeling. I know that the Bible teaches us that God cares about us so much that he died for us. It is just that sometimes I feel differently. I mean, I pray, I tithe, I attend and vouluteer at church, but sometimes I feel that God is indiffierent to my suffering.....just for once, please!....no stupid answers about how dumb I am that I believe in God...."athietsts"...on this one, please keep your thoughts to yourself...I am looking for input from mature believers...sorry

Why doesn't he make creatures kind of like women, only less beautiful?

Why does he (successfully) blind us with their beauty so that we are unable to do things we know are right to do?

Why does God hate us so bad?
