Sometimes I struggle with this nagging feeling. I know that the Bible teaches us that God cares about us so much that he died for us. It is just that sometimes I feel differently. I mean, I pray, I tithe, I attend and vouluteer at church, but sometimes I feel that God is indiffierent to my suffering.....just for once, please!....no stupid answers about how dumb I am that I believe in God...."athietsts"...on this one, please keep your thoughts to yourself...I am looking for input from mature believers...sorry

shake...rattle and role...

I once heard a sermon that helped me understand this better. the dudes who wanted to break the sound barrier, so they got in their car(true story) and as the car came near the sound-barrier the car started to shake so badly...the drivers wanted to pull out because they thought the car would start coming apart.
Then the one driver said, no...I want to know what's beyond the sound barrier.

As they broke the sound-barrier everything became smooth...

Our relationship with God is a lot like that. the devil rattles us and tries to stop us from taking yet another groundbreaking step towards Jesus. As our world starts rattling we wonder weather it was all that clever to trust Jesus the way we did. This is what Jesus talks about when he asks us to trust him. Just keep going man. The breakthroughs will come. and then you will be on your way to the next one....

even though i don't understand god exactly the way you do, i have also felt overwhelmed at times.

Max Ehrmann's Desiderata has always been a comfort to me at those times. sorry, i know it's long, but i hope it helps! xx

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be careful.
Strive to be happy.

You are by no means the first believer to feel this way. Read Psalms chapter 73. The Psalmist felt the wicked were enjoying a better life than he was and that his life of working hard to please God was in vain. Later God helped him to recognize that they(the wicked) were on "slippery ground", and headed for sudden destruction.
God has initiated a long-term, permanent solution to the problem of human suffering. He is not indifferent to your suffering. The disciple James said: “Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you.” (James 4:8) Yes, our Creator invites us to have a close personal relationship with him, and those who do never fail to sense his support even in the most difficult situations.

Hey, I think we all feel that way sometimes.

I think God cares more for our self development and less for the detials. Details are temporary (money, pain, loss of a companion) Character is forever. Often adverse situations produce the most growth.

Not very comforting, I know, but hopefully you will grow in faith and trust. That is what I strive to do. Developing a mature faith is more difficult that having a "plastic" bible tells me so ask no questions faith.

Sometimes fasting will help get us closer to the Lord so we can hear from him better. If you are not used to fasting you can start with one meal a day or just one day of fasting etc.

The reason fasting works is because it weakens the flesh and when we are weak he is strong.

Fasting has given be breakthroughs when nothing else worked.

Many brakthroughs in many areas, areas of healing, disipline for my child (God showed me it was rebellion and the fasting broke it), showing me I was praying a miss. I could go on and on there is AWSOME POWER in the smallest effort of fasting.

No matter how hard it is to fast it is well worth the effort, you WILL NOT be disappointed.

God Bless

Yes God definately does care!
The Bible tells us that God gave man a perfect start. Man's continued enjoyment of God's favor, however, depended on obedience to his Maker. If man was obedient, he would continue to enjoy perfect human life. He would provide needed guidance and would safeguard mankind against calamity. But man rejected God's guidance; he chose the course of self-rule. In trying to do something for which he was never designed, he has brought calamity upon himself.
Yet over the centuries, God has been patiently seeking out those who, because of love for him and his ways, are willing to serve him. He sets before them the opportunity to enjoy all the blessings of which they have been deprived because of man's imperfections and misrule. The provision God made by means of means of his Son to redeem humans from sin and death is evidence of God's great love for mankind! God has also set an appointed time when he will destroy those who ruin the earth and will cause lovers of righteousness to enjoy life in harmony with his own original purpose. (Psalm 37: 10,11)

I have found that talking straight out to God, telling Him how I feel, asking Him if He actually cares, - that actually helps me ot get in touch with Him on an honest basis, and He responds.
Praying, tithing, volunteering at church ... all those things are good in themselves, but if they are your way of getting in good with God, then He actually diapproves of them. He wants you to approach Him on the basis of grace, not on the basis of being a good Christian.

Dude, its normal to feel this way, especially when things aren't going right for us. But the truth is, God, who can seem distant, is going through all your crap with you as you deal with it. He may not fix everything so its your way, but he does care that you are unhappy. God helps those who help themselves, they say... maybe there is something else you can do? Keep your chin up, brother!

Physical suffering? Such things are of no concern to a non-physical diety. You must, if it is your goal, save yourself from physical tribulation.

If you want to gain non-physical enlightenment and joy, there God can and shall help you. God doesn't waste his time healing broken limbs, he has enough to do by creating them.
