I prefer to say that we are justified by Grace, through Faith. The term "Saved' is a term that modern Evangelicals have changed to mean, a zealous Christian. Most modern evangelicals and to a large extent modern Christian denominations derived from the Great Awakenings are obsessed with determining who and who are not 'REAL' believers (up to their standards). Look at the terms they use.
"Are you on fire for God?"
"Are you saved?"
"Have you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior?"
But more to your question, what am I 'saved' to put it from? Easy, the Wrath of God (see Romans reference below). Jesus Christ is the propitiation of God's Wrath (Romans 3:25, 1 John 2:2 or 4:10)
Romans 1:18-25
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
John 4:10
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

That's a rather punchy way to end your question, but okay.
We have a nauture that is anti- God. That's what happened when sin entered into Mankind. So we are born with that tendency- to go our own way, not seeking after God.
What is supernatural about the Christian relationship with God is that we respond to God through his urging. It's not a human trait to trust something that we don't see, hear, and/or touch. Love allows us to make the connection through faith-- which happens to be what we need in order to be saved; love and faith.
So, we recognize God because he urges us to inderstand him. "None come save the Father draws him nigh."
Without that crucial element, we wouldn't care.
So we are saved from the nature that entered into Mankind when Adam and Eve did what God said not to do. Jesus provided what is called the 'covering'. The propitiation for sins. We are still capable of sin, but we are 'covered' or 'set aside' as those that have claimed the payment that Jesus provided.
You actually asked a good question. I hope that you understand the answer. You can e-mail me if you wnt an explanation on what I said. ( :

First thing is first if you are speaking of people that go to manmade churches stop reading here....
Ok if you are speaking of people that live for christ and him alone then I will explain this to you if a person is truley saved they want god to suround everything they do they are not interested in the world example t.v. music, they are not interested in material things on earth because they know there treasure waits in heaven and to be saved means to be saved from evil, the sins of the world, and saved from the stresses that consume worldly people now do understand that evil does not disappear just because you are saved and you have to fight against it to stay saved because even those who are saved can fall back in the world if they dont put there faith and trust completly in god in other words praying and asking god for forgiveness of all your sins, and telling god my life is in your hands from now on takes away all you burdains im shore you may not understand all of this and there is so much more to it but I dont have all day to type everything so I will list a site below and go there and you will find all the asnwers you need. Hope it helps :)

I am a Gentile. Because of this, I am supposed to go to Hell (Hades, Gehenna). Hell was originally made for Satan and the fallen angels but because of Adam and Eve's sin, death came into the world. Death and judgment. There was a chosen people, a certain lineage of people...the Jews. They were the only ones not going to hell if they obeyed God. Well, God loved us all so much that he sent Jesus to be a sacrifice for our sins. Because of the blood of Jesus, I have been reconciled back to God the Father. I have been grafted back! I have all the same benefits that the Jews have and I am a daughter of the most High God. Because of Jesus Christ, I have access to God the Father. No man comes unto the father except by the son. Also, God loves me enough to save me from myself. He teaches me to love others and not be selfish. He teaches me to not be envious or have hatred. He teaches me how to be a good and loving wife and friend. To be a Christian is to be Christ-like

This isn't a question; it's an observation -- and a poor one, at that, because you base your observations solely on your subjective feelings regarding Christianity.
Who are you to determine whether those who claim they're saved are unaware of the alternatives?
This is what I believe: grace arrives in many forms -- compassion, a handshake, assistance from strangers... It is a gift, in that it requires no obligation, no payback. I believe I have been the recipient of such grace, and it is a joy to try to spread it around, as thanks to God. And if you accept grace, that's fine; if you reject grace, that's fine too.
But insulting people? Well, that's pretty "ungraceful," if you ask me.
