About the REAL Truth

2007-03-01 11:39:24 · 8 answers · asked by Anonymous

before I came on the Christian Page. I dont base my love for Jesus on a wager. Christ is not to be taken lightly. The Lord is not something you can choose on some sort of a wager. The Lord Jesus suffered real agony under the torture of the Roman whip. He felt the blood from his head dripping down across his tear stained cheeks as the crown of thorns was cruelly pressed into his agonizing head. he felt the searing burning lashes in his flesh as he struggled to drag that heavy cross up Calvary. Upon reaching the summit he was dragged to the cross and held while Roman soldiers pounded cruel steel spikes through his palms and feet nailing him to the cross. He wreathed in agony as he was lifted into the sky and had the hilt thrust in the ground. As he hung there the life blood draining from him another Roman soldier ripped open his side with the point of a sword. Still he could say forgive them Father for they know not what they do. That is my Lord. Not some Pascals wager. God bless.

The early Christian Church practiced a form of communism. People joining the Church were required to give all of their possessions to Church leaders. If they failed to do this, and kept some back for themselves, they would be murdered. This is documented in Acts of the Apostles.

what would you choose? I'm just curious whether religious people would prefer to have their "mortal" family and loved ones in their lives or to have God in their life. It can be a simple answer, or you can explain why you would pick one or the other.

Note: I'm not trying to imply that God would ever make you choose, it's just a hypothetical.

I'm guessing it's because it would be just too complicated to yell:

"Charles Darwin is great and Richard Dawkins is his prophet -- strictly in the metaphorical sense, of course!"

before lighting oneself up like a solstice tree.... but I could be wrong. Anybody got any better guesses?

Is it not just mind boggling how dumb he imagines his flock to be? It's scary to think he might be right.

Insane, yes, insanely happy, but, really, I don't get this whole people believe in God because they are afraid of not existing theory. Why would I fear not existing, if I end up not existing I won't care because I wont be able to.

Just read the Raelean website - this French geezer who calls himself 'Rael' seems to be a self-acclaimed prophet. He claims he went for a walk in an area of France, where he was met by an extra-terrestial person who divulged lots of information to him. (there are some similarities with what muhammed claimed happened - deslate area, met by extra-terrestial, claimed he was a prophet etc)

What do you lot make of this 'Rael' and his movement? I know he's got a nice looking expensive website.

My bet is on Christians. Imagine how depressing it would be to be told that you are an imperfect disappointment to your creator and that you will never live up to his expectations of perfection?
