If the practitioners of these five principal religions of today were asked to sum up the main message - or teaching - of their religion in one sentence, what would it be??

This the final religious(Sorry have loads more about every other subject) Question. Answer me this Please and take your time to read it.Reply in your OWN words.I will not read quotes from your scriptures as my understanding(all be it rather simple) is they are all without exception written by a man or womans hand in the first place (as I think we can agree, all of us humans have faults and floors,so even with the best will in the world we make mistakes) this is blind faith which I feel is wrong eg. In the extreme case when you would go and blow yourself and others to bits because you think its right to do so.The question is.If I ruled over a country and saw that my people were staving, children dieing and man was killing man because he wanted to control others for his own personal gain.If I had the power to stop this, and could make everyone respect each other, get on and help each other. But Instead just stood back and watched this all going on.Would this make me rather sick or GOD ?

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

As a Christian, I have to agree with some of the comments made by atheists regarding the use of this site. It is true, it is not a purely Christian "love in" I believe that all people, believers in Christ, believers in Mohammed, or believers in nothing have the right to express their opinions. My God would have it no other way. If people don't question, they will not learn. I do suggest however, that people from all camps do not bash or badmouth each other. We are all human beings with feelings.

I mean while at school it seemed like my religion that was the only one even the teachers never heard of, or never taught. When someone asked me and I said I'm Jain they looked confused.

Muslims will be SHOCKED to know that 'jihad' in Arabic means 'to struggle' and 'jihaad fee sabeelil laah' means to struggle in the way of God NOT to fight the non-believers and especially not to kill non-believers in terrorist acts. Nonbelievers or even believers can be fought ONLY in support of the downtrodden and ONLY if they are prevented from practising their religion. All other fights or struggles may be 'jihaad' for cdountry, self preservation, etc but not 'jihaad fee sabil laah'.

Is it because you all want to learn more about God but are afraid to accept or are you all trying make Christians have a bad opinion of Atheism. I mean, there are other sites that you can all attend, and talk about evolution and Atheism. Making fun of others will only make Atheism a more laughable subject to others. If you truly hate God than why bother arguing with Christians? It does not help you in your so called free thinking, free from God.

If knowing and accepting Jesus as your savior is the only path to heaven and all the rest will go to hell as I've often been told, why didn't he bother to say "oh, and swing by North and South America as there are millions of natives there living their lives in sin"?

Seriously, between the lifetime of Jesus and the eventual discovery and colonisation of the Americas millions of people lived their lives, only to go to hell because they never heard and never could have heard about christian god.

Surely, Jesus would have known the layout of this planet and the continents on it? Did Jesus hate the natives there? (considering the behaviour of christians and near-extermination of natives since they arrived there there might be something to this line of thought)

Are they ALL mealy-mouthed, mental midgets, and emotional and spiritual cowards! Or do just the ones with NO LIFE hang on Yahoo Answers?

before purchasing goods from him? This is a spiritual question that obviously any adult can process.

Here's another:

For believers...how will you verbally teach your children in a world that contradicts what you teach? What do you tell your children about the behaviors of others...such as those who validate sin?
