I'm baptized lutheran, and although my immediate family never went to church, my mom is actually quite religious (talks about faith a lot) - but she's also a flaming liberal. i really know nothing about my religion so does anyone know?

There is no afterlife until resurrection. You either live on or get annihilated after that. The afterlife isn't about praising God for no reason, it's about praising him for a reason. The reason is that he has perfect life supporting laws that keep us happy and protected from harm. In the New Earth you can
1. Build your own home and plant your own garden (Isaiah 65:21, 22)
2. Have a city mansion built by Christ (John 14:1-3.)
3. Sing and play heavenly music (Isaiah 35:10; 51:11; Psalm 87:7; Revelation 14:2, 3).
4. Worship before God's throne every Sabbath (Isaiah 66:22, 23).
5. Enjoy never-fading flowers and trees (Ezekiel 47:12; Isaiah 35:1, 2).
6. Meeting loved ones, patriarchs, prophets, angels etc. (Matthew 8:11; Revelation 7:9-17).
7. Study the animals of heaven (Isaiah 11:6-9; 65:25).
8. Fly and explore wonders of the universe without getting tired (Isaiah 40:31).
9. Listen to God sing (Zephaniah 3:17).
10. Realize fondest ambitions (Psalm 37:3, 4; Isaiah 65:24).

How do you interpret Jesus command to forgive? I know the Bible says we are to forgive seventy times seven if need be. I also know it says that we should not judge others because by that same standard we will be judged. It also says we are to love our enemies. However, the Bible also says that to receive God's forgiveness for our sins we need to repent of them. Does this mean that if someone has hurt us and continues to hurt us (emotionally) that even when the person is not sorry for what they are doing that we as Christians must still forgive them? On one hand I wish I could just do it but on the other, my own heart holds on to the hurt for as long as this other person seeks no forgiveness. And, is this person actually sinning agaist me or can someone sin only against God?

“God saves Jewish people without Jesus, and he saves Christian people through Jesus. God has multiple covenants with multiple religions.”

Can anyone identify the source of this quote?

Do you agree with it?

I understand that there are different views out there. So what does your particular church or denomination teach about the Rapture? Feel free to share any Bible verses which may (or may not) apply. Thanks!

Since the Muslims had already conquered 2/3 of the Christian world and were moving into Europe before the Crusades even started was it ok? Pope Urban ordered the first crusade because of a desperate plea from the Byzantine Empire that they were being overrun. Still unjustified? They did kill innocent Jews and Christians though so it wasn't all good.

My friends house has always had some negative energies, but have never been quite like this. The children are starting to see it now too. And my friend believes these demons have actually tried to harm her baby. The kerosene heater was working fine, and they had just insulated the windows in his room. But for some reason it was very very cold in his room one night. I mean he was blue, he would have died of hypothermia if she hadn't gotten him out of there. The next night her 4 year old, and a 6 year old who was spending the night saw a black figure of a man come down the stairs and hover above the couch bed. They were asked seperatly, and had the same story! Now, She has asked these spirits/demons to leave, she has said in Gods name leave, She has hung a cross in the babys room. We're planning to do a sage cleansing of the house on Saturday. Does anyone have any suggestions that we havn't already done? This is a serios question, only serious answers please! Thank You!

I don't understand why the 'prize' for your devotion to God is called the afterlife or what it exactly means. Does it mean you get to worship God for eternity but in His presence? Why? What about YOU and being rewarded for YOUR fabulous life as a devoted follower? Do you get nothing only more of the same but for much, much longer? If it's inner peace and tranquility you seek for all eternity why can't that be granted by YOU on your deathbed if you know you've lived a blameless and religious life? What if God refuses you entry into His Kingdom and you feel it's the wrong decision?

What exactly is it you seek? It seems like this life is a training ground of how to be a devotee to the laws and traditions of your particular faith and when you die, if you've done things right, you get to go onto the Kingdom of God. But when will you get to use your wiseness that you've picked up over your life time? Everybody in heaven is the same as you so they don't need your help.

1. One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of god (know its not meant to have bread but not sure what i can do for it)
2. “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone! Therefore, you shall love the Lord, Your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, andwith all your strength. Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today.Drill them into your children. Speak of them at home and abroad, whetheryou are busy or at rest”

Today, my friend from prison came to visit me. He told me about the ways of the lord. He has convinced me that Jesus is the only way. That I should give up my job at the rent-a-center and come preach with him all over so cal. My question, would I be letting my brother down if I said no? More importantly, my religion?

Ok my Christian brethren, now that I have your attention I would like to ask you this.

According to the Bible man is supposed to till the ground. I take it that means we are responsible for our environment, animals and what not.

If we are responsible for taking care of the environment

And angels are responsible for taking care of us

Are we greater than the angels but less than the animals?

or are we less than the angels but greater than the animals?
