The Pagans of Mesopotamia - the Sumerians - came right after the Flood and Noah's Ark. Noah was allowed by God to replenish the earth after God destroyed the entire world with water. Noah's grandson Nimrod had a wife named Sumerimus and they say she spawned 70 gods and goddesses. She and Nimrod picked an idol for everything fire, water, sun, moon, war, love etc. For today Venus and Aphrodite are the famous love goddesses. Babylon with nomadic tribes of Sabeans and Chaldeans was where Nimrod built the Tower of Babel as rebellion against God. In Genesis 10:9,10 Land of Shinar was Babylon. Nimrod means "let us revolt." Sir Charles Woolley in 1922 finished an 1854 discovery of a Sumerican city which was one of the most advanced cultures in all the ancient world.

Call it a religion or what, but Noah believed God. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the One and Only True God.

It would be very difficult to tell. Ask any extremely religious person and they'll tell you that there's is the oldest (except for new installations of old religions, of course), because it's what they think is true.

The first religion is definitely gone, so there's no telling what that was. Probably very primitive.

There have been religions for as long as there have been people.

I think Islam is the newest major religion of the world.

Edit: Why are some people claiming Christianity? Makes you wonder what they're really teaching you in schools.

"religion" is man invented.... so probably when Cain got sent off for murdering his brother... he could probably be credited with starting the first"religion".... the islamis claim to be from Ishmael... if that were true which it aint... then any number of others make longer claims.... The True Christian Faith( which is not a man invented religion) has been around for about two thousand years... and the roman catholics had nothing to do with starting it dispite their claims... and on and on... an unending debate that no mortal will ever resolve

Judaism then Christianity. Considering Jews and Christians share the same history of when and how the world came into existance and lots of other things. In Christianity the Old Testament in the bible and in Judaism - The Torah (the first five books of the bible or first five books of Moses) They were the first books ever to be written. Islam came into existance approx 600 AD.

But do some research on it.

The oldest non-pagan would be hinduism. I think druidism, shamanism and animism are all pretty old too. Much older than hinduism..
