Christians don't think it is 'bad' to have a cashless society, that is just considered one sign of the end times. That is like saying if a woman is sick one morning she must be pregnant because morning sickness is a sign of pregnancy.
I like the idea of a cashless society, the value of money is agreed upon by participants in the system, no matter what the system actually uses for the money.

I won't miss cash and coinage, but with every new innovation comes new challenges. Obviously the greatest concern with a cashless society is security. Sure, someone can rob you of the cash you are carrying, but now someone on the other side of the world can rob you of your whole life savings just by sitting down in front of a computer and knowing how the system works.

Although I love computers and enjoy mine emensely, I would hate to live in a society where everything is mechanized or computerized. What happens when you get a major power failure or a terrorist attack on our communication satallites etc. I don't want to have to rely on them for my existance. And, from a Christian perspective, the time will come when the anti-christ may have total control over our ability to buy and sell. However, I do not think that my opposition to his plans are going to mean a great deal even if it happens within my lifetime.

Yes, I am against it, and I'm an atheist so I don't believe that "number of the beast" crap.

1) If you have to buy through a card instead of cash, you pay a service charge for using the card. You're paying money to pay money.

2) If you buy with a card at a supermarket, every item scanned in (UPC codes) is recorded. Retailers will sell lists of your purchases to companies who use it to sell you more crap, invading your privacy. "He bought no-name soap! Let's send him a coupon for this brand...", etc.

3) Government spying, paranoia and violation of your rights. The trainer for an amateur sports team goes to the drug store and buys 100 "cold packs" in bulk (to save money). Next day he gets arrested and accused of being a terrorist because ammonium nitrate (the active ingredient in cold packs) can be used to make bombs. You think that won't happen? People are being investigated _now_ just for buying more than one pack of antihistamines at a time (it can be used to make crystal meth).

Cash is anonymous. I like it that way and will NEVER give it up.

Against. Big brother knows too much about me already, and he needs the "cashless society" so he can enforce the rule that no one can buy or sell without the mark of the beast.

I'm for it. I pretty much live cashless now. Whether it is a magnetic strip on the back of a card or a computer chip makes no difference to me.

Weather you are for it or against it. It is coming.
We are moving toward it every day.
Debts and credits. No more cash. No working under the table. Every transaction recorded. Tax on every transaction. All deals known by the Government.
It has to be. How else can you control people absolutely?
Money is the way to control. Do as I say or no money. No money, no living.

They should have a cashless society where you do not pay for anything. You take only what you need and leave the rest for someone else who needs it.

Ultimately, we may have a society where only those with specific ID will be able to make purchases, leading to an under-class majority.

Society will break down and civil unrest and war will ensue.
Regardless of my thoughts, I will be unable to prevent the inevitable.
