Question about God's punishment of women

I found a website that talks about a verse at Genesis 3:16. In this verse God says to Eve:

"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;
with pain you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you."

According to the website, Saint Augustine explained the meaning of this verse as follows:

--- God's words to Eve are an announcement that her disobedience will result in the future punishment of all women. The first part of that punishment is labor pains, which all women must experience whenever they give birth. The second part of the punishment is a requirement that all women submit to the rule of their husbands. ---

But I don't understand why God would punish all other women for something that Eve did. I also don't understand why the punishment is so severe. Can someone please explain this?

Thank you

If you were God, would you let the people of earth suffer and die from endless sicknesses and wars and natural disasters, just to prove a point? Why not just kick Satans butt and be done with all the BS?

Lucifer, can someone please give me a bible scripture about this 'entity'?
Apparently if it's not in the bible it's myth, so tell me why this ancient Roman God who bears light is evil, by only using your bible, and every passage or script you use should have the words 'Lucifer' in them, but 'ONE' rule...(not 10, lmao) YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THE KING JAMES BIBLE?

If you do insist on using the King James, why not blame Yahweh?

Here is a passage from the King James:

[7] I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

So, in your 'holy' scripture ALL that is evil, IS YAHWEH, so blame him, he CONFESSES he created evil...

Christianity seems to be way too flexible if it can be contorted into so many hundreds of different competing denominations...what is really going on here? They all say they alone present the true version of Jesus don't they?

When you read some of the questions on here?
Are there times you think " I can't even begin to answer this question" or at times think "I don't even have the strength to type"
--which means the question is either ridiculous or needs a very thorough answer?
Like this question I just asked, how many of you just sat back and said "Forget it, I am not answering this one"
--Or how many of you see questions that just break your heart? And you sigh because you just truly hope and pray that person will come to the knowledge of the truth?

That you can calll&command things that are not as though they were?

Matthew 21:21-Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

Are you at the point in your walk&understanding of God that you can command things to happen just as Jesus commanded things and it happened?

God commanded with faith&without doubting that light come into exitence; He commanded the dead to rise, the blind to open their eyes, the few fish&few loaves be given to Him.....and miracles happened.

Are you at that place in the spirit yet to command things that are not as though they were;& expect with faith in Jesus Chrit,&without doubting for them to come into existence?

Lets assume there isnt a god (as some claim) - what then made this universe. Look at the way the planets orbit the sun. Look at how plants grow. Look at how day switches to night, see how it rains and how it becomes sunny. Look at how balanced the world is. If one planet moves out of orbit, the earth will start feeling the effect - who or what is keeping these in perfect balance? Do these signs not show that someone is controlling them - someone who is beyond our intellectual understanding?

Love god above all else
and love your neighbor as you do yourself.

I'm pretty sure everything else gets lumped into this two.

What do you guys think?

I am just interested to know people's opinions.. I dont want to start polotics. The church I just started attending isn't formal at all, you can wear jeans and a sweatshirt to worship if you want... but I still sort of dress up. Although I agree that it's not what your wearing, as long as your there to worship God. What do you think?

Ok so I get the fact you think we are all brainwashed. Wrong- but I get it. I am so freaked out be some of the responses of atheist that I gotta ask- what kind of convuluted cult did your information come from?
My beliefs are nowhere near anything like what you are saying about Christians. My church is nothing like anything I have read. Man- if you have really experienced what you are saying- heck if I had experienced what you are saying - I would run fast and not look back from that church or religion. You are in the wrong place baby.
I just don't get the hate and the misconceptions. So I want to know your church experience.
Mine's pretty basic- NONE- wasn't brought up in one Nope- wasn't indoctrinated. Didn't become a Christian until my late 20's. After college, 3 years after my first child. No societal influence- believe me no-one I knew was Christian.Felt a little tug in my heart... now I am a Christian. Believe me nothing like what you guys are saying about us.

Even though I have my own strong religious beliefs, I can't understand why a lot of people try so hard to convince others of either believing or not believing in something. To me the bottomline is that ALL RELIGIONS REQUIRE FAITH because if any one religion was able to prove its accuracy, we wouldn't be debating in the first place. You either believe or you don't. It's a choice everyone makes and no amount of arguing, yelling, or debating will convince someone of something if they don't want to believe it.
