Okay, here comes a lot of answers for a lot of questions.

1. God uses many things in the universe as his tools, Satan being one of them. Even though Satan does not desire service to God, in the end he always serves God whether he likes it or not. This is why it is God that incited David, however, he used Satan to perform the task.

2. The number counted would be two different types of census. The first is the listing of the men who actually fought. Chronicles is primarily a record of kings and rulers, and so in that case the census that would be taken would be the number of people who were able to fight. This serves to say that David had a good bit of support.

3. Same song same as the first. 2 Samuel records those able to fight, 1 Chronicles records those who did fight, it's just reversed this time.

4. Most historians understand the passage in 2 Sam here one of two ways. Either A) it was a symbolic use of the number 7 rather than a literal to represent that it was from God, or B) it's a copyist's error. Most hold that the 3 years is more accurate to the intent of the passage.

5. This has to do with probably the handwriting of the person writing in hebrew more than anything. Many translations read 42 years, and this is what is held by virtually every scholar.

In answer to number 1, BOTH God AND Satan inspired David to count the fighting men, since God manipulates the devil to do God's will (even evil serves some good purpose, or else God would not allow evil to exist). Read the book of Job sometime.

The answer to your other questions, you simply found some minor scribal errors made during copying (the ancient equivalent of a typo).

Is this the best that you can do? After thousands of years of people trying to discredit, criticize, and attack the the Bible, the best that you can come up with is a cut and paste list of minor typos? Are we supposed to abandon our faith now that you parroted some trivial errors that people have been noticing for hundreds of years now?

These alleged "errors" have been rebutted over and over again for hunderds of years. Don't you have anything original?

[On a side note, this is obvious proof that the Bible has NOT been "heavily" edited, as some claim, because if it had, then these hard to explain passages would have been removed or corrected by now.]

Your question itself implies that you know little about Christianity, or the history of the Bible -- therefore you are posting a rhetorical question just to mock people who believe differently than you (and not even an original question at that. Try posting again when you have a serious question.

Looks like you have done some homework. About half of your comments have easy answers. (There were two kings called Jehoiachin) In most of your questions, why does it matter? I have always wondered why YHVH gave Satan so much latitude in the "translations" of Scripture, but then He is in charge, and He does all things well. If you are looking for excuses to doubt, you certainly can find them. If you are looking for evidences that YAHOSHUA is who He says He is, that you might believe, you can find that too.

Perhaps you are a bible student seeking homework answers? Or maybe you discovered a nice book on so-called biblical contradictions, yet lack the training in hermeneutics to interpret what you are reading?

Am happy to provide the answers (and there are answers) you seek, but, given the amount of work required, you will have to contact me via other means. After you get my answer maybe you can report it back to the forum.

Have you ever read anything so convoluted as some of these answers!?!?!?

The Bible contains no errors. Those aren't errors, it's Satan putting thing into the Bible so you won't believe. (Well, who's to say everything else isn't a result of Satan's input, too.)

This was a valiant effort, and thanks for putting the time into it. I don't think you convinced a single person, but you lifted my spirits.

John,

All the answers are right. Each book of the Bible contained different information, and there were more than one instances when these things happened. So in answer to all these questions, all these answers are right. There are no discrepencies at all in the scriptures.

God Bless You.

Well i think that you should pray about your answers, and close in the name of jesus christ and figure out the truth.

How could there possibly be contradictions in the bible if God wrote it himself? You must be the anti-christ.

Begone Satan!
