Even though I have my own strong religious beliefs, I can't understand why a lot of people try so hard to convince others of either believing or not believing in something. To me the bottomline is that ALL RELIGIONS REQUIRE FAITH because if any one religion was able to prove its accuracy, we wouldn't be debating in the first place. You either believe or you don't. It's a choice everyone makes and no amount of arguing, yelling, or debating will convince someone of something if they don't want to believe it.

I think that if you take the optimistic view, people try to convince others because they have found a joy that they want to share, and are compelled to share based on their belief.

It IS true that all people have to come to it on their own to some degree, but because you never know what that trigger will be that actually gets them to do so, you witness with the idea that you might help plant a seed. That's all there is to it in my opinion.

When you don't want a friend who is drunk to drive a car, debating does little good...because they are befuddled by the alcohol.

And so with many people who don't know God. It does little good to debate or try to prove any accuracy. We can only tell them what is good and then they have to make the choice:

1 Cor 2:14
14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
(from New International Version)

Yeah i agree with u...
Why argued about whose religion is true and false...it is point less...Beside growing the hatred among other believers it was totally unappropiate character...

If want to know about the general knowledge of the religious why should not ask and answers it in proper manner...

It is up to people to make choice of their belief...Afterall we are a human..NOthing different us...Religion is just an identity of someone...Respect is necessary deed to restrained the religion tussle...

That's a good way of stating it. Religion is a matter of perspective.

There are different ways of looking at our divinity.

I'm happy that you don't have the urge to force your beliefs on others.

Beliefs of course are never reality. They are, as you said, a perspective on something.

It's always good to look at one's beliefs and notice that they are perspectives.

One way of facilitating the realization that beliefs are perspectives is to try Byron Katie's "the work".

If you have time, look up her name on youtube.com and watch a couple of her videos. Pretty powerful stuff.

Well youre smart and open minded. Other people think that you need to have a certain religion to save your soul or else you become immoral and go to hell or something or will affect them in a negative way. If more of us thought more like you do would be better.

You're 100% right IMO. But certain religions or denominations thereof (I won't name any names) are really bad when it comes to trying to convert and save the alleged heathens. I think if people would just keep their religions to themselves unless it comes up and they're invited to talk about it - we'd all be better off.

I agree. I think that some people are too enthusiastic about their religions. Especially a long time ago.

I'm not sure how to answer this, except to say...you're right. Nothing else really needs to be said. As Kierkegaard said....nothing worth teaching can be taught.

I agree. Just be who YOU want to be and, the hardest part and the biggest problem the world has today, learn to accept others for who THEY are.
