Lets assume there isnt a god (as some claim) - what then made this universe. Look at the way the planets orbit the sun. Look at how plants grow. Look at how day switches to night, see how it rains and how it becomes sunny. Look at how balanced the world is. If one planet moves out of orbit, the earth will start feeling the effect - who or what is keeping these in perfect balance? Do these signs not show that someone is controlling them - someone who is beyond our intellectual understanding?

I loved the way reverend tried to justify his answer to my question. But i more so loved the answer given by LoveGodde. Look at her answer before trying to justify my question.
Just proves that even if the truth was placed right before your eyes - you would still reject it.

Saustin seems to have taken a heavy thumbs down lol. Why are people not allowing him and others such as Lovegodde to express themselves?

Nothing exists without something creating it. Without a creator there cannot be a creation - just vacuum. You are right in what you say - as a christian, there is only one god - the God of the Christans, the God of the Jews and the God of the muslims.

I agree that the universe is a marvellous place. However, I see nothing in what you have described except simple physical processes that have been successfully explained by science. Gravity, photosynthesis, the revolution of the Earth, weather. It is not beyond human understanding. There is remarkable balance in our delicate ecosystems, but a balance that is only remarkable because it is the product of evolution, of a system of trial and error. Is that any less miraculous than if it was being controlled by a Higher Being? That after all our world has been through, every trial, every near-miss, we exist?
I cannot accept that the daily processes of life are controlled by an intelligent designer. What about cancer, that is the epitome of a design going awry with disastrous results? What about natural disasters? Wouldn't an omnipotent force be able to devise another way for the Earth to function? The signs you describe just prove that what essentially controls the universe is everything in it. It is all inter-reliant. We exist because a set of circumstances were in place to allow us to exist. If those circumstances change, we will perish. This has been demonstrated with countless species across time. This should be enough of a source of wonder without having to imagine a supreme being.
That aside, I do see something divine in nature (but not beyond it!) I think a divine power may have started the process of creation but I don't believe it is involved with the universe and I certainly do not believe it controls anything. Perhaps we should be thankful for the wonderful world we have and marvel at its beauty and variety without over-concerning ourselves with arguing how it got here. It would certainly make it more likely that we will motivate ourselves to preserve our eco-structure if we stop mentally relying on some god to sort it all out.

" what then made this universe"
Natural forces. Why does it have to be a god-figure?
" Do these signs not show that someone is controlling them - someone who is beyond our intellectual understanding?"
The latter part of your question renders its intended answer meaningless. If it's beyond our intellectual understanding, then there's no reason to believe that it exists.
You're reverse reasoning here... the universe is fine-tuned to US. We are not fine-tuned to IT. You oversimplify everything, and because you cannot explain it, you assign a Grand Poohbah to it. I know you're not THAT stupid, so I'll try to help you out. These are things you should have learned in grade school.
"Look at how plants grow."
Ask a botanist. It's a simple matter of converting light energy to food, called photosynthesis.
"Look at how day switches to night."
...okay. This proves that a god exists? You can't be serious.
"Look at how balanced the world is."
Yes. Balanced. With earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, volcano eruptions, and tidal waves.
Please. Did you analyze what you typed before you hit the Submit button??
"If one planet moves out of orbit, the earth will start feeling the effect - who or what is keeping these in perfect balance?"
Natural forces, like, oh, GRAVITY.
Please think before you type next time, 'kay?

The laws of nature are sufficient to explain how these things happen. Things may not be in such a state of balance as you think. Look at the mass extinctions of the past. The earth started as a molten rock, has been encased in ice, and gone through almost every intermediate state as well. Everything is always evolving and changing. While it may be tempting to believe there is some being controlling everything there is no real necessity nor evidence for it.

By the very nature of your question's wording it shows that you have already thought of something higher/older etc than us as humans. There is very real proof that the world existed and managed quite well long before humans came along. Think of this "someone" as being God if you like. In the end God/Allah/Jehovah/Yahweh/
Brahman/Yin & Yang/Karma/
Mother Nature/Fate etc are merely names that humans have given to this concept. Even if you go far far back in human history before the notion of established religions there were still the concepts of the Prime Mover (Aristotle) and the form of the good (Plato) before that, even before that the ancient Persians worshipped Mazda (light) and the ancient Egyptians worshipped Amon Ra (similarly light). I hope this gives you something to chew over, as there will never be true phisical proof that whatever it is that deigned to give us this planet etc exists. He/It/She/They will never appear on Richard and Judy or the Tonight Show to explain why or how they did it.

Taking your example as truth. Does that mean that God controls the meteorites that have struck the Moon and Earth over the years? Does God then control the conception of babies who are born into starvation? If God controls the planets and the stars, why doesn't he control the wellbeing of mankind? Kind of a jerk

Absolutely right. So, why do so many people not believe it? We have disrespected authority, and choose not to believe what we are told by our elders and betters - from God to our parents, no one is immune to disrespect. God will set matters straight, but we have to do our best to get to know him, to get to know how to do his will, and to fully put our trust in him.

I totally agree with you.I don't see how people think that this world just came to be, ti isn't possible. If just one thing was off like you said, we would definitely start feeling the effects of it. Besides the things like the oxygen and carbon dioxide or whatever, if there were too much of oxygen we would of blown up or too little we would have suffocated, it had too be just right and I can't believe that it just happened by chance.
