meh, i agree. but it does say its wrong for man to wear womans clothes, and woman to wear mans clothes. traditionally skirts/dresses are womens, pants and such are mens.

I agree with you and to take it a step farther, My relatives attend a church that everyone is always dressed to the max. I asked once what they thought of the fact that many people that did not have the money to dress like that would not attend as they felt so out of place. They had never considered that. If I cannot afford to wear good clothes I will not regularly attend any function of any kind, religious or not, if everyone is dressed up. I would not want people to stay out of my church because they were embarrassed about their attire. Show up in Jeans, shorts, sweats, I do not care. The message is about God,

I think that people need to take Church more seriously and dress nicer than what is becoming especially in ''come as you are''! I don't have a problem with nice jeans but shirts and shoes needs to be nicer than average. Ragged t-shirts and dirty sneakers have no place in Church!

I live in the hills of Kentucky and can tell you if there was a dress code here in our churches they would be empty.
When I started going to church all I had was jeans, since then I have bought better clothes for church but it is because church is about the only place I go other than shopping and want to look nice.It doesn't matter to me what someone is wearing as long as it is decent.

I wear nice jeans, but I think the idea behind dressing up is that you're going to God's house. If you were invited to go to the White House to have dinner with the president you would dress up out of respect for the position. (Insert any "important" figure in this illustration) If you showed up in torn jeans you may be asked to leave. I've never been to a church that requires a certain dress code, but most people do seem to dress up at least a little.
I think that we should definitely dress in a way that is appropriate, as God would desire in any occasion, not in a way that would cause others to stumble. Modesty is always required in public.

I grew up in a real tradional church and I would never be cought dead wearing pants to church and I would look down on people who would wear jeans to church like they wern't as "holy" as me.....but THANK GOD I WAS FREED FROM THAT SPIRIT OF RELIGION!!!!!!! The church I go to know is a very contempary church and there is so much more freedom to worship God and come to Him just as I am with no condemnation! Yes the bible says that men shouldn't wear woman's clothing and vise-versa....but when the bible was written jeans weren't even invented yet.........so who's to say that they are just for men?

There should not be a dress code at churches. Even if a woman were to dress out in a seductive way, it should be allowed. After all, she comes to church for the same reason everyone else does.
I once wore shorts to church on a Sunday night. Some were offended, but the next Wed. night the preacher's wife wore shorts and no one was offended after that.

gown has continued to get greater casual via fact the previous due 60's as society comfortable fairly some regulations. This trend has overflowed into the church. greater conservative segments of society and older individuals nonetheless carry directly to lots of the previous customs. It replace into front web site information the 1st time a woman wore a pantsuit into the eco-friendly Room on the inn DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware. maximum gown codes have been and nonetheless are unstated in public places. This makes it greater probably that they are interpreted in a various way via diverse human beings. In church the pastor or priest contraptions the regulations. i've got heard priests in mass scold the human beings in decrease-offs and turn flops for exhibiting disrespect. As our society has grown greater egalitarian it seems understand is way less generally an automatic given.

In my church, you can come as you are. That means, jeans, cordoroys, a dress, etc. However, I still think people need to recognize that we are in a holy place, whether it's your church or someone else's, and dress appropriately. We are gathering to worship, so we should dress the part. We don't have to dress up in suits etc, but let's leave the party/club clothes at home.

I think if you are going to go to church then you should be able to wear something comfortable.. after all some preachers do get a little long winded...
Buts why should it make a difference of wearing pants and sweeter to church over a dress/skirt? Why does one day of the week make a difference in their dress code. Most people wear pants and t's during the week but refuses to wear anything but a dress/skirt to church. Does god really care what you wear? I mean Does he see what you wear during the week?

God is interested in people that worship him in spirit and in truth as he said to the women at the well. Men look at the external and God looks at the heart. He knows motive and intent. So if you worship in jeans or a dress is not important to him entirely. But, back to motive and intent. If I know I am going to offend somebody by wearing jeans the apostle Paul advises not to wear jeans. If I am going to offend somebody by dressing up wear jeans. It a matter of humility and obedience. I am not to do something that I know will offend a Christian brother or sister. Although we are free, we are not to take liberty when we know we might offend somebody and cause them to stumble in their relationship with us or God.
