Without religion there would be good people doing good things and bad people doing bad things. Only with religion do you find good people doing bad things.

Do you agree?

For example, perhaps the day before you are due to sit a maths exam you dream you are sitting the exam and can see all the questions and the answers you are writing. Then when you actually attend the exam you feel so relaxed because all the afore mentioned questions come up and you know all the answers!

I got in trouble in school Friday cuz i was arguing with my teacher, who's a Christian Brother, on debating if what religion u are determines if u go to heaven or not. He told us that the only path to salvation was through following Christ, in other words, being a Christian. I usually dont think about this crap much, but i got kinda pissed at him cuz my grandma was Jewish. So i raised my hand and asked him how do we know what religion u are determines if u go to heaven or hell. He told me that our religion was the only right one, and i told him that was bull-s-h-i-t, which is why i got in trouble. Boy, the way he makes it seem, getting into heaven is impossible. I think that if ur a nice guy, and u treat people nice, it doesn't matter what religion u are. So what's ur thoughts on this????

To have everyone believe what they believe and just live their own lives without imposing their beliefs on everyone? Or do you want everyone to stop believing in God? I don't know if anyone watched CNN but here is the vid. If any of you know me you already know my thoughts. But what do you all think?

In other words, if I create a religious book and wrote lots of passages that refer to violence in some way, will my adherents be more likely to committ violence than people from other religions with less references to violence?

Many people dismiss the amount of violence mentioned in the Quran, based on many theories of apolgetics, but what they forget is the simple fact that the more violence is discussed among humans of varied ways of thinking, the the more likely you are to get violent interpretations.

If all humans thought the same then we would either have all Muslims engaged in or supporting jihad, or none of them would. But since we know humans can think differently, although less so when they are poorly educated as in all islamic countries, we know that there will be different interpetations, Jihad or mind and fist vs Jihad of just mind.

Thus, because the Quran has so much violence, will will always have many Jihadists so long as we have a "preserved" Quran

She stated that there was no evidence to dis-prove God. To this I say that I believe that there is a teacup the size of a small pony in orbit around the sun and that it holds the elixiar of all life.

Now I ask, do you believe also? If not, show me the evidence to dis-prove my theory of the great teacup?

ps - Yes I know this is Dawkins argument but I want to see peoples take on it.

If any of you have read the Bible you will find that those God used as Prophets were not all that nice. Once the other cheek is turned what then? I have met very few Christians that are like some of you claim to be. Are you lacking it honesty with yourself or just trying to project the perfect Christian attitude?

Is simply thinking a religion is wrong intolerant (if so every single person must be intolerant)? Isn't it possible to dismiss other religious views as wrong, but be very respectful towards the right of the people to hold such views without mocking them? Wouldn't mockery and physical persecution be the only true forms of intolerance?

Many great thinkers have made such a query.

Many people have an excuse. For example, most Muslims are born into their faith within Islamic systems that supress education and thus keep people from ever having any real chance of thinking or discovering anything else. So the ignorance of the Islamic community is not the fault of Muslims per se, but the religion that afflicts them.

What about Americans? Well whats amazing is that even after some degree of education and freedom of discovery, many still chose to suckle the nipple of religious myth.

Let me ask you this --

"Have you ever felt deep connection with the expression 'ignorance is bliss', like its a sign post over a manhole cover saying 'dont come in, you cant handle it'. Is this essentially your subconscious recognition that all religion is false, and thus, when you here the famous "bliss" expression, it is your suconscious that creates this extra feeling of 'ohh how true'?"

On some, if not most, levels it seems that science and religion can co-exist rather peacefully. However in some cases a real arguement gets stirred up, which questions if humans will be able to keep both scientific and religious thinking in their mind. You know, cases such as evolution, the age of the earth, etc etc. Personally as an athiest, I'm perfectly fine with a world that accepts both science and religion, however not with one that rejects the products of research and observation in religious dogma. The question I'm asking here is how do you want the world to be? Science, religion, or both?
